What's it going to take to light a fire under this guys A$$ and turn him into a play maker again? Is it even possible? Thoughts.......

I hope it's possible, but I'm reluctant to believe it. His breakout season looks more and more like a fluke, and less likely that he'll repeat with anything close. He can't stay healthy and he plays nowhere near his dollar level. Has his name even been called in preseason?

Bwana:

I don't see him doing anything this year...he seems like a flash in the pan.

Mayber we need to bite the bullet after the year if he doesn't play better.

Gman - I think I heard him called for offsides.

G-man: I haven't had the "pleasure" of hearing all the pre-season games, but from the parts of the games I have picked up on the radio, I have not heard his name called. Like you said, even if he does pick it up he will be hurt before he can do much good IMHO. I just hate to see his huge pay check go to waste like this. http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/mad.gif

LOL, Morphius.

Making my move toward regular status.

Not to be Packfan-esque, but Carl should never have given this guy the contract he did over a year ago after sitting out the previous one. I said that from day one. He really botched that one up. DW was a #1 pick with the Donkx and the whole reason they let him go was becuase he was injury prone. KC was darn lucky to get that one good year out of him we did in 97, but Carl should not have expected him to ever go beyond that. Especially after sitting out, he showed his lack of committment to the team that gave him a chance to resurrect his career. I knew once he came back last year he would spend more time on the sidelines than in the game. That probably won't change this year either, IMO.

P.S. I'm really not Packfan . . . I swear!

Mark: do you know what the cap hit would be on him if we did cut him loose at the end of the year?

But nevertheless, I'll root for the guy because he is, after all, a Chief.

GO DAN WILLIAMS!!

Bwana - I'm no cap expert, but, as I said on another thread, I beleive it would be around 2.2 million (counting the reduction of his base salary) this year, and something similar next, depending on his base salary for that year and what we'd save from not having it.

Would we not be able to handle such a release after opening up some room with the release of Rison, the retirement of O'neal, and the cutting of many, many scrubs? I know individually they're not much room, but collectively...

Bwana - That's with an accelerated cap hit (I'll try to find where I posted this before so I don't have to do it again http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/smile.gif ).

I don't really believe he'll be released, I'm just daydreaming.

Yes, I did it now..
I broke the cardinal rule...

I was curious, so I just posted a question for Adam Teicher, to see if he is privy to the exact cap figures for Williams' release.

Very, very dissappointed in myself. http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/frown.gif

g-man:

Thanks for filling in the info for me...I knew it was a hit, but not sure how much. What would be smart is to ty and renegotiate and get his number down and then release or trade him IF he doesn't come around this season.

I am hoping he regains his old form.
