View Full Version : Rufus Dawes...even more annoying than Whitlock.

In his latest (10-7-00) article, Dawes attempts to explain why the Chiefs don't need a full-time starter at HB. As you'll see, he lists various teams that gained over 2,000 yards in a season without a dominant HB. They all made the playoffs, but only the Giants and Redskins of the late 80s/early 90s have won the Super Bowl in the modern era using RBbC.
The Giants and Redskins. I get so sick of hearing about these TWO teams that were the exception to the rule regarding RBbC. Maybe Dawes should check out the other 95% of Super Bowl winners...that had a feature back.
There will be 4 or 5 very good prospects in the 2001 draft. That will make 9 or 10 potential franchise backs in 2 drafts. There will be no more excuses for Carl after this season. It is time to step into the 1980s and get a feature back.

Don't worry, once we get a featured back, Rufus will be writing about how smart Carl is and how he followed a plan of getting the tight end, the two tackles, the reciever, and finally the running back without losing the "competetive edge."
I know that Gunther wants a featured back. I just hope he doesn't convince himself that Moreau is that feature back and just stick with him next year...

What's wrong with Moreau? I think he's very good. The problem here isn't personnel. Jesus, look at the Broncos. That Coleman kid yesterday looked pretty damn good. Whether it's Moreau, Cloud, or some rookie we draft next year, or even Corey Dillon, it just doesn't matter. Why? Because our coaches insist on using RBBC. Before we let Moreau go the same route as Mike Cloud, Greg Hill, Harvey Williams, or any of the others, let's GIVE HIM THE ****ING BALL 20-25 TIMES A GAME LIKE EVERY OTHER ****ING TEAM IN THE LEAGUE!!! Jesus Christ, it doesn't take a rocket scientist...
Jimmy Raye for President...anything to get him out of Kansas City

Nothing against Moreau, but when the ground game is struggling and he gets zero carries in a key MNF game, I'm not going to assume he is going to all of a sudden blossom into a superback. Now I'm not saying he is the answer, but if he's got the skills they say he does, at least use him...

First let me say I haven't been overly impressed with Cloud, but the burst of speed around the end for that touchdown last monday did at least make me comfortable with knowing we have got someone capable of making the corner. Still would like to see Hall in at hb from time to time though.
