View Full Version : FAIDERS AT KC...............Time To Pick Your Score!!!!

10-08-2000, 10:49 AM
Greetings! After a week of rest, the Chiefs will not have any problem lighting the fire on the Raiders. Gun will have them pumped up after the last encounter at Arrowhead when the Raiders bumped the Chiefs out of the playoffs. I just hope we don't have to depend on Stoyo to win the game again or it could be a long day! This one will be close but the Chiefs should avenge their loss from the last Raider sighting!

I don't see the Chiefs and Raiders putting up the kind of points in this game that they did last season.

Actually, its really not quite time to pick yet. Maybe we should wait till we see how Oakland does in the Battle of the Bay this afternoon.

I agree UD. Gannon looks rough after his week off.

Does Gannon like his Coach? Will that kind of tension affect Gannon on the field?
It will be fun to watch which place kicker out humiliates the other. This game will definately be quite the showdwon. I'm thinking it to be one of the best all time Chiefs/Raiders games...or...maybe I'm just anxious. Arrowhead must be deafening for 4 quarters.

Should be the usual AFC West kinda game. Close and down to the wire.

I'm a little concerned about Elvis in this game. He's been playing great, but the passing game has been pretty much our only offense. The Raiders D-line is tough, and they are obviously trying to hit QBs late. They won't get to Elvis nearly as much this game as they did aginst the Niner's turnstiles, but they might get to him enough to create a few turnovers.

If the raiders weren't a bitter divison rival then I'd pick a blow out...

However, as is...

This could be the biggest game of Gunther's short career. This is where the coaching has tightened up in the past and let the moment escape. I can only hope we take it to the next step.

As long as Gannon can keep the Raiduhs #1 pick off the field they have a chance.

I am so uneasy I am not going to pick a score....trying to avoid that jinx thing.

10-09-2000, 11:08 AM
This will be a close game but we should be able to run on them. Gonzo should be open all day. Only thing that concerns me is how will the defense do? We must wrap up the ballcarrier. And with all the overpersuit, the Raiders will try to take advantage with misdirection plays, bootlegs, throws to the backs, etc. We've got to be ready.

Chiefs 27-24.

OK, now its time. The Raider D is giving up tons of yardage, the Battle of the Bay went SF 472, Raiders 471. I think the Chiefs will rack up a similar amount. The Raider's success is dependent upon the play of Gannon. He plays well, we win. He's off, we lose. He was off the entire first half in SF, threw for about 50 yards. He was on in the second half ('cept for the bonehead INT), and he kicked butt. Which is more than Kowski kicked. Special teams saved our butts (missed FG's notwithstanding). Field position was in our favor bigtime. Blocked a punt, blocked a FG.

My prediction: Raiders were rusty, but went thru a rude awakening against SF. They're awake now, and the sense of urgency will carry over to the Arrowhead game. Gannon will be "on" for 3 quarters after a rough start (Raider trend this year), but Raiders get it together. KC has big day. Oakland has big day. Kowski finally kicks a winning FG...

What do you expect from a Raider homer?

Does anyone know the Harmon Forecast for the Raiders at Arrowhead? Hold on a sec, I'll go check.....Hmmmm...hmmmm...dum-de-dum.....

Oh, here it is....Whoa! Check it out! The Harmon Forecast has the Raiders over the Chiefs 27-21. Hey - these guys are right 80% of the time, looks like they have a different view than most Chief fans. I'm feeling even better now!

On paper this match up looks too good to be true...They only put 6 points on the board in the 1st half against the NFL's worst rated D. We all saw what happen when they played a solid D in SD, they almost got shutout...Any thing can happen when the emotion of a big rivalry gets involved, but on paper we could very conceivably shut these punks out especially considering it is in Arrowhead. As for our offense moving it on their D, that should not be a problem considering everyone except the most feeble of offenses (i.e. the Browns and the R.Leaf lead Bolts) have blistered them for an average of 30 points...This should be a lot of fun...I can't imagine anything sweeter than taking the division lead and smashing the Faiders all in the same weekend.

I am thinking this will not be a close game. The Chiefs might stop themselves, but the Raiders can't.

I have been wanting to see the Chiefs break out with a perfectly balanced game for a full 60 minutes and I think this could be it.

I even think that the coaching staff might be wise enough (after last years experience) not to just sit on a lead!

Chiefs 42
Raiders 16

I really hope we kill these punks. I have an uneasy feeling however. The early line has us as slight favorites, only because of home field advantage (KC by 3, USA Today). We seem to play well against highly touted media darlings in our house. However, they are our biggest rivals and when we are pretty evenly matched as we are this year, the games are nailbiters. My heart says:
KC 42
Oak 17

My brain says:
KC 20
Oak 17 OT

Oh, I am also leary of the fact that we are coming off of a bye and may be a little out of sinc on offense.

Tim Brown is good for a touchdown plus 1 rushing TD by either an RB or Gannon plus a Janikowski field goal.

Although I liked Gannon when he was here, he is now with our arch rival. I hope Hicks decapitates him.

Every year the national media falls in love with the frickin raiders, and every year they end up suckin. I can't figure it out.
They did get one on us last year. I think we will use it as motivation. It's time to start a new winning streak against the faiders.

This game makes me think of Chester. I hope he pumbles Gannon Sunday. Anyone remember in the Indy game last season when Chester intercepted Manning's pass and ran down the field and then just threw the ball behind his back?! I laughed SO Hard.

CNNSI's Dr. Z disagrees with you guys. Ranks Oakland #5 in the NFL, KC #10, and picks the winner at Arrowhead:

I like the Raiders , even though their top draft pick, kicker Sebastian Janikowski, who was going to solve all their problems, has struggled from the outset and missed the potential game winner on Sunday; even though their defense tired badly; and even though their quarterback, Rich Gannon, showed signs of wildness. I think Oakland will run the ball on K.C., just as Seattle did, and the Raiders' defense will generate some real heat. <P>

Yeah, we all know how accurate Dr. Z is, don't we...my six year old nephew could pick better. I'll have to go back and check, but the guy has only been right about 50% of the time...I could flip a coin and get the same results.

Gannon fumbles at least twice and Rison gets one catch for 9 yards before Woods takes his head off. Grbac throws away from Woodson and has a huge day. The Raiders still rush for over 100 yards, but it's at junk time in the 4th when they are already out of it. The Chiefs finally get a ground game going off of the pass.

Well, It's Raiders-Chefs week so I figured I'd stop by and check out what's being said.
This is the only thread I've read so it's all I'll comment on. here goes.........

Since your all Chef fans, I can understand your bias on who's gonna win. Most of you at least realize that Oakland does have an Offense and are predicting a close game. (Which is how I see it) But a few are calling for scores like 35-0, 28-3.... which is rediculous. In case some of you haven't noticed, Oakland is averaging over 28 points a game. (This,of course, doesn't include week one)

Elvis has had a good last few games, but our "D" won't be so easy. Your best player, by far, is T.Gonalez. The guy is a stud and must be contained.
Your other RECs are average at best.
New Kicker...Who knows?
Running game is very weak, so we can use that to our advantage and concentrate more on the RECs and QB.
Gunther? I don't like him and neither sould you. Really though, the guy almost walked out after one lose. That's very weak.
I also feel that Gannon and Rison have something to prove and will expose your D for at least one long TD..maybe two.

I normally try to avoid extremely long posts so I'll wrap this up, even though I have more to say.

OH! Final score:
Oakland - 38
KC - 34

10-14-2000, 08:12 AM

Post um up boys!

In reality, this will probably be a close game. What I'm hoping for is that all phases of the game come together for the Chiefs and we win hands down.

The key for the Kansas City Defense is to contain the Raidas rushing game. This includes not only Wheatly, Kauffman, and Richie but also Gannon. We cannot let him scramble on third downs and allow him to continue drives. Our front seven must wrap up when tackling something we did very poorly against Seattle. Our LBs also must watch the running backs when they roll out to the flat to catch those dump off routes Gannon loves to hit. Force Gannon to stay in the pocket and throw the ball to deeper routes. While we all know Tim Brown is going to get his catches and yards they don't have to be lethal. The key is stuffing all aspects of the run...

I'm nervous about this game and the Raida's "never stop" attitude. If we are able to get up early on them we better remember last years game at Arrowhead. One just needs to look at the Raidas games against Indy and SF...they don't quit. They must be killed.
