To Russ, Bill, Gregg, Kurt and all the others who are slowly drifting over here. Glad to see you, and jump on in, the waters fine and the censors far behind.

Please check your trolls at the door.

<Hey, AustinChief, who's supposed to be tapping the keg at this here party?>

AustinChief

Kegs will be tapped shortly...

I'm still working on getting up an index page and making this BBS look a little more "Chiefy." Feel free to start using it, cuz the functionality seems to be finished. If you guys spot any bugs or request any changes, I'll hop to it.

I've gotta head out now and catch the game.

I think it would be nice to have a place that is not cluttered up by... 'individuals' that can't keep their stories straight and don't believe half of what they say anyway.

Pass the word and we can see what develops here.

Glad to see everyone so far.

BTW, Kurt, I doubt the queen will visit here much. Except for Jim and Gaz, she's pretty much setting the tone of the Old board. Why give that up to venture into enemy territory?

I really think we should pursue Priest Holmes when he becomes a UFA in 2001. The guy has always impressed me and I think he's undervalued by the Ravens. Also, I think this Waters kid we picked up is really gonna be something special on the offensive line in the future. He has great feet and hands, just needs some reps and more strength to compete in the trenches.

How does one advance to having 'regular' under their name as opposed to 'lurker'???

Red Eyes

Mosbonian
08-23-2000, 12:02 AM
ICQ is a direct messaging method. Different offerors, but for each they assign you a number. You basically can poll the net (sort of like dialing a telephone) to see if they are on-line in an attempt to establish a dialog. That is my rudimentary knowledge, I have heard that it possibly can be used for voice communication as well but do not know if that is a fact.

Logical has the general take on ICQ, milkman. You can send voice messages as well as files, etc. It's along the same lines as the AOL Instant Messenger, et al, but a more full-featured product. (Bob Dole uses it to chat regularly with his parents.)

Duck Dog
08-23-2000, 10:11 PM
This year I teach 3 sections of 8th grade American History and 2 sections of 10th grade American History.

Last year I had the 10th grade but had 11th grade World History and not 8th grade.

Over the summer I thought I would be smart and create awesome lessons for my classes...no one told me that I would be changing from 11th to 8th...

And the stuco advisor from last year said he would assist me this year, only he is gone.

But I am strong and I will be great...<P>

Well, God bless you, Pam. I sure wouldn't want to teach - I'd be too afraid of getting students who act like I did. Horrifying thought.

Of course, the summers off part is appealing. My best friend is a college professor. He likes to call my office during the summer and say things like "Oh, yeah, you're at work, aren't you?" The bastard! (Can I say that?)

Duck Dog

Hey flowergirl,

Thanks Fraz.

I have always known I was going to teach...way back in kindergarten. I always thought it would be music till I took an awesome history class in college. Changed my subject and here I am 2nd year teacher and lovin it!!!

And yes there are always at least two stinkers in every class!!!

milkman
08-23-2000, 10:38 PM
Stinker - that would be a kind description of me in school. I was obnoxious, opinionated and mouthy from an early age and just got worse. I was a regular in the principal's office.

There are still old teachers of mine who would run if they saw me coming down the street. heh heh heh

Since he has admitted guilt there is no reason to put the American people through an impeachment, He will serve absolutely no purpose i finishing out his term;the only possible solution is for the president to save some sort of dignity and resign."

The 8th graders get the prehistory to civil war stuff, and the 10th graders get a brief overview (about 1 week) and then they start with Civil War and I try to make it out of the 60's but if things were perfect, we would cover till 2000.

World War II and the 50's and 60's but I also like the prohibition days as well.

Pam,

That seems like an awfull lot of history to cover in just two years.

I know that I had (serious) history classes required each year from fifth grade through 10th (and then civics/government in 12th).

Are we teaching less history these days?

Luz
really curious now...

8th American History to Civil War 9th grade gets a semester each of Civics/Arkansas (Insert your state) 10th Full year of American History from Civil War to Present
11th World History
12th Government/Econ

I am pretty sure 7th gets a dose of World History as well.

Kilgore, (parental guidance suggested)

I'm thinking of using a new opening line...I stole it from George Carlin:

"Which one of you cupcakes wants to come home with me, cook me a dinner and give me a blowjob?"

What do you think?

OK..I know that this is sort of political and off topic...

...but I think most will find it funny.

I received this email today...

This chain letter is started in hopes of bringing relief to other tired and discouraged men. Unlike most chain letters, this one does not cost anything.

Just send a copy of this letter to five of your friends who are equally tired or discontented. Then bundle up your wife or girlfriend and send her to the man whose name appears at the top of the following list and add your name to the bottom of the list.

When your turn comes, you will receive 15,625 women. One of them is bound to be better than the one you already have. At the time of this letter. a friend of mine had already received 184 women of whom 4 were worth keeping.

Remember, this chain brings luck. One man's pit bull died and the next day he received a Playboy swimsuit model. An unmarried Jewish man living with his widowed mother was able to chose between a Hooters waitress and a Hollywood super model.

You can be lucky, too, but DO NOT BREAK THE CHAIN! One man broke the chain and got his own wife back again.

Clint:

It would be another classic for you...

I just wouldn't want to be between you and any one of the ladies on this BB.

Stevieray - Check out the faq, and the UBB code, it is a simpler HTML type code to help you put in links, bold and the such.

Stevieray - I went out on an ATV a couple weeks ago and have respect for anyone who can ride offroad on 2 wheels. I was thrown 12" to 16" off the bike hitting a bump I didn't see and was holding on to the handle bars for dear life, I easily could have done the superman position as I flew through the air.

Morph, don't you just love those close calls... http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/eek.gif

You know, the ones that remind you that you are just a mere mortal?

Stevieray - I think I could live without that feeling, I would much rather go through life thinking I was a god. Of course I came out better then a couple people, one guy ended up in a pond and another ended up 40 feet into a corn field, he ditched it early and is still hurting after 3 weeks.

Done much riding on the bike? Do you go on trails or open fields? Mine was in fields with no distinct tracks to follow.

Just bought it yesterday...There is a place called Rampart Range that rocks...I have a buddy who has one, so I'm looking forward to proving I'm 17 in a 38 year old body...I bought my first dirt bike at Raytown Suzuki..Hodaka Super Rat..

Steve: You got be laughing when you went into your 17 year old in a 38 year old body. My wife and I hit the mountains this weekend on ATV's. I have owned one or another for several years and have always taken great pleasure in jumping the darn things. It has been some time since I have "hit the trail" so after a LONG day of riding/lots of air, it took me 3 days until I was right again. I think my wife is still feeling it and she isn't into the "big air." http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/smile.gif
