View Full Version : An open apology

I apologize. For everything.

I have clearly misunderstood how seriously some people take this stuff.

To me, this was harmless fun, an exchange of insults among fans of different teams. We don't know each other and these are just words typed on a message board. I didn't intend to hurt anyone.

But now I have been hurt. Badly. My employment status has been affected.

So I am sorry. I truly didn't mean for it to come to this.

Care to compare standardized test scores between Philly and KC?

Ignorance and stupidity abound in the city of brotherly love.

By the way, when was the last time a team from Philly won a title in anything? Sixers in 1983 is all that comes to mind.

Smack is fine, but what you did was an out and out challenge.

Let me see, I'm just a little ol' native Kansas Citian, but that sounds to me like he's blaming us for something, like it's our fault that our board--which has a proven record for being hospitable to fans of other teams, including the establishment of a Patriots' fan board--doesn't tolerate classless nonsense.

I second the motion...talking smack is one thing...spamming and trolling are another and are dealt with 'harshly' here.

Serious or not, you dont walk up to people you dont know and start calling them 'faggots' or 'douchebags' w/o getting to know them first.

It's a public board dude...

It's like everybody is sitting at Starbucks, you run in and piss on the table while slapping the coffee out of everybody's hands "in good fun," and then running off accidentally dropping a business card...

I guess you've learned a lesson here... If you're going to be a jackass, you'd better not do it while using the company's computer...

or, more appropriately...

If you're going to be a jackass, know where the line is, and don't cross it... because the further you cross, the deeper the line on your side will get crossed.

I have no idea what you did, but I did see a post attributed to you that contained some slanderous generalizations.

I'd think you, as an attorney, would have realized that you're opening yourself up to charges of prejudice for the rest of your career. I know if I was opposing counsel I'd do everything in my power to show that you have problems with wide segments of the population.

And I'm really questioning your skills by posting an apology that essentially admits that you're the author of the disparaging commentary.

9:12 PT: Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Monday the team has officially agreed to terms of a seven-year contract with free agent LB Shawn Barber (Eagles). "Shawn Barber was our top priority at the 'Will' linebacker position," Peterson commented. "He possesses the skills, abilities and experience that should improve our defense immediately. He has played with one of the top defenses in the NFL in Philadelphia. We look for him to bring that experience with him to our defense."

I think the emailing the boss thing is just a ploy. If somebody really emailed your boss, post the email addresses and headers of the message so we can find out who did so. I don't think anybody would do that over some relatively minor infractions in Netiquette. I was hoping this would have a happy ending and we could talk football.

Like I mentioned earlier, the smilies are there for a reason. I didn't send a gift subscription of The Advocate to his office, although an International Male catalog wouldn't be a bad idea.

Let us know if we can, individually or collectively, send a message to your superiors expressing our sentiments. Nobody should lose their job over something like this.

Amen.

As a person who used to live and work in New York City, I get very offended when East Coast-types start with all of that intellectual inferiority of the Midwest garbage.

Trust me. I've lived in both the New York and Missouri, I can firmly attest that people from the Midwest are generally smarter, better-spoken and more highly educated than most New Yorkers.

The smoke signal option is good for short messages. If two planet members wish to exchange e-mail addresses they can do so thru a smoke signal. Do they deserve to suffer because he was a dick on a football BB? Does he? Many of us here (myself included) have fired off similar shit at various times at various people for various reasons. I'm not fit to judge this guy, although I basically did earlier in another thread. I shouldn't have.

Anybody who would f#ck with my livelihood in such a manner better pray I couldn't track them down.

Fraz - I'm right there with you. Its bad enough we have the nameless weasel from other BB's doing this to our posters, but then we turn around and to the same thing.

I can't of anything to say other then I'm truly both saddened and disappointed. We have had a lot of people post smack on their first day here and then later become solid BB citizens.

I have always been a "What happens on the BB, stays on the BB.", I could meet anyone of you, no matter how often we argued on the BB I would never hold a grudge to you personally. I tried to get Packfan to come to a couple things, but he was always too afraid, even when I said I would throw down if anyone tried to do anything.

I hate the East coast as much as the next guy, but this is still just a BB and name calling is nothing but words. I'm all for beating him down, he deserved it 1000%. But nobody should fear their job because they stopped here to have some fun.

I'm sure who ever did it feels pretty guilty, I doubt the admins will do anything. I hope next time the guy just trys to get the guy banned, it isn't that difficult.

:toast: ****Agreed.

I hope its just the off season because the direction of this board of late has been downright depressing...

personal attacks instead of responding to the actual posts, hurling anti-American insults at people, suggesting the removal of members who do not post (guess free speech is mandatory on this board. Speak or be free... ) and now following a member off the board and locating their personal info with a malicious intent...cyberstalking.

I hope its just the offseason and this board gets back to its senses when the season kicks off. :grr:

I took the day off today so I got to witness the whole thing. The guy came over from the Eagles board cause he was pissed that they lost Barber to us. Of course he ran down Barber saying how we overpaid for him. And a lot of other lame general inuendo about the midwest. ie. stupid, toothless, uneducated ect.ect.ect. The usual trailor trash crap.. And then he called out the Mods and called them faggoty. And all of us HICKS!!! I can handle it when they abuse the Mods and call them faggoty:D But he call us hicks. He crossed the line there. Then someone who shall remain nameless traced his IP and found out who he was and posted his picture and relevant info here for all to peruse.(Not me) Then it got a little out of hand. I was all for slamming the guy and having some fun. But whoever wrote the guys boss was wrong. Otherwise it was entertaining.

The guy got his hand slapped by his boss. Obviously, he wasn't fired or even in severe trouble because he continued to monitor the board from work after his boss received the email. You needn't worry that he's going to be fired.

Here's what happened.

He registered and started 9 or 10 topics about how stupid everything associated with the Chiefs, KC, and this board was....

Then he started a thread about how stupid the Planet's admins were.

Then I got online about an hour later and checked his registration. Moron registered from his actual work email address. From that, I found his full name. I posted a Thread calling him out by name and asked him to cool it and talk football. The mob took it from there and really, really embarrassed him.

Then he started sending me email DEMANDING that I remove everything OR ELSE.

I informed him that he might ought to try using a little honey instead of vinegar and he posted this apology thread. Then I locked any thread containing his personal information.

I will not be sharing the identity of the person who sent the email to his boss. Suffice it to say, they feel badly and wanted to "out" themselves to the board, but I advised against doing so. They learned a lesson from it. Don't bother guessing who it is because it would take you 2000 tries. Slayer, it's not the same guy who did the Slayer spoof.

In the future, please don't email the trolls if their email addresses become available. I used his full name and it was effective. He stopped posting the spam immediately after seeing my post to him. Generally, I ban these people on site, but I thought it would be nice to hear the perspective of a Philly fan on the Barber signing. Too bad it ended badly.

For clarification, the extent of his problems with his boss are mere speculation on my part. Given that he wasn't absent from his computer for long and actually posted after revealing that his boss had been notified leads me to believe that he got a little harmless tongue lashing. If it were worse than that, I'm sure he would want to create problems for the guy who emailed his boss because he had that email address available and insisted on sending it to me privately instead of posting it on the board.

Sorry conjureman, but anything south of VA Beach, loses the "east coast" status and becomes the south.

I believe Fraz was referring to the loud mouthed, rude, uneducated, stuffy nosed pricks that make up the vocal minority of the New Jersey/ New York coastal area, and many of us group all pricks into the east coast genre to include Philly.

I'm glad the guy didn't get fired, but having been here when this all went down, I don't feel sorry for his dumb ass one bit.

Definitely one of the most intertesting days the Planet has ever seen.

Damn, I missed all the fun with Danny Boy. Something tells me this guy won't be trying to piss up a rope in the near future.:shake:

As someone who does most of their posting from work (albeit cautiously), remind me not to piss anyone off. ;)
However, AH was making a complete ass of himself yesterday, until he got his wanker stepped on. It was pretty amazing to see it transpire.

Just want to offer my props to phobia, for a very clear-headed handle of the issue!!!

Yesterday I was ready to bounce to offending Planetier. This morning I do not feel the same, and can see the wisdom of quietly letting this pass.

well done sir!

In the spirit of good sportsmanship, I say we offer "Danny Boy" a seat at the esteemed Chiefs Planet table! Now that he's learned some table manners, he could be a good addition--seems capable of some good clever smaque! Isn't that what makes the cp great? Contingent upon him changing his name from Hero (obviously a mis-nomer)...and ceasing posting during billable hours! What say you guys?? Extend the olive branch?;)

I feel your pain brother.

Reminds of what my lawyer said one time.

Do you know why divorces are so expensive?

Because they are worth it.;)

What do you mean they wanted to out themselves to the board? Does that mean this person who sent the email to Daniel's boss wanted to fess up to the Planet? I would be curious to know who it was. I wouldn't pile on them it but, I can't say what everyone else here would do.

Well, I gotta admit....I thought the guy deserved it for the most part. Personally, I THOUGHT about sending his boss an e-mail--but I decided that would be too far over the top.

I just wanted him to piss his pants thinking what we COULD do with the information. He certainly wasn't too bright leaving a trail like that....:bong: :sulk: :shake:
