View Full Version : Why can't we tackle?

This to me is the most bothersome thing about preseason. This is the 3rd year in a row. That to me is the result of bad coaching. Guess which coaches have been around during most of that time...

I'm really starting to get pissed off with the inability to stop people on 3rd down,

I agree with the poor coaching part. The only thing that keeps me from panicing is that it is preseason. I will wait till after the Tennesee game to see what we have. That doesn't mean that I'm not worried.

I don't know if you can blame the lack of tackling on the coach. I bet Gun/Schott have gone over this constantly since getting blown up in SIX consecutive games. The blame was rest with the players. 7 guys had a shot at Alstott, it's not the coaches fault no one brought him down. The poor execution on defense falls with the players.

Remember Kansas City's hero, Joe Delaney #37.

Most players learn the fundamentals of tackling in high school. The Chiefs coaching staff for years, going back to Marty's time have made takeaways a priority. Over time, in part because of coaching failure to stress fundamental tackling, and in part because the offense has been inept, tackling has become secondary to the takeaway.
