Cash, when I became a Chief fan I signed on for life but this game is a complete embarrassment. I've seen no improvement, even the "homer" radio guys are bashing the Chiefs...

Yeah it's pretty bad when the only good thing Bill Maas had to say at halftime is how good the cookies were.

This was by design. At the end of the season when we win the superbowl gun will write a book about how he tanked the pre-season to make everyone think we $uck.

It's all part of the master plan......hehehe

You have to take something out of preseason, and I don't think the Chiefs have taken anything out of it. One offensive TD, by the first team. Evaluating talent, what freaking talent? Opening the offense, wow that new shotgun is great, wish Jimmy Raye would point it to his head, and use it. Our defense, damn I like Shaw's new defensive back scheme. Give me a break, I love the Chiefs, have followed them for over 35 years, but this team reminds me of the stinkers in the lates 70s and 80s. At least then, we didn't expect a lot, and we got it. Any victory was like a super bowl, I hope we are not heading into that again, the most encouraging sign, is the retention of the young players.

Well, I think we'd all better brace ourselves, because when you consider our schedule weighed against the SH!T we're going to put on the field and the UTTER SH!T that's going to put it there, I think we're in for a season of nuclear a$$-whuppins the likes of which we haven't seen in over a decade. 6-10 may be wishful thinking - I'd say 4-12 is more realistic. This will be the last year of the infinite five year plan, and it will end in failure.

On the bright side, I look for sweeping, positive changes when it's all over - the wholesale sacking of ineffective coaching and management, a real expectation of an immediate-impact high draft choice, and a year of tough, practical experience for the kiddies.

As the hated Cowboys demonstrated in the early 90's, the road from abject failure to Superbowl success can be a short one if you have the right people. Hopefully we'll start next season with a similar group.

Alas, these are the only positive thoughts I have for the coming season, which begins next week with Indiana Manning in the Temple of Doom.

If I'm wrong, I'll happily eat my crow raw with hot sauce, but the way I see it I have a better chance of nailing Cindy Crawford on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise than watching the Chiefs in the playoffs this year.

Has everyone on our team forgotten how to TACKLE??You can say it's preseason but this is basic fundamentals...we had trouble last year and it looks like we have "not addressed" the problem very well this year....

Frazod,

Loved the post! Humor helps ease the pain. I think we could see the season get out of hand quickly. i think we'll be 1-3 after the first 4. Maybe we can make a late run but it ain't looking good!

Hilarious post (#8). But true http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/frown.gif

I am afraid I don't share your optimism about the wholesale management/coaching changes after the season (assuming it does go in the tank). I still think CP will keep his job, so if he changes coaching staffs again (and he'll probably keep Gun at least), he'll pick more people that don't interfere with his control of the organisation IMO. Seifert was available when Gun was hired, and his name was never even seriously mentioned that I remember. Probably because CP knew he'd demand some hand in the running of the organisation and he'd have to give up some power.

It's too early to call this season a waste, but I am afraid we'll be talking rebuilding for the next several months, the way things are looking right now.

OK- we dont tackle we dont go deep and the O- does not a thing to show they have any fire power. we will see what team we have in the 1st 4 games. GO CHIEFS!!!!!!

Good to see we're up and running. Anybody out there?

I'm glad you guys enjoyed the post. Humor does indeed help. Laughter is a better alterative than straight jackets or straight razors.

Also, if you expect nothing, then you can't be disappointed. Remember how we felt after losing to Indy and Denver in the playoffs after posting the best record in the league in 95 and 97? I don't think we'll have to worry about THAT this year. That, at least, is a blessing. Hope can be a terrible thing.

That could be, but remember it is Saturday. I personally was out the better part of the day helping a friend shop for a new car. The board was also down for a while.

I do wonder what effect a really lousy season will have on both boards. Probably just turn them into computerized support groups. I think we'll it.

The one thing I've noticed is none of our Raiders or Broncos fans have smacked us around. This is not a good sign - it's like they feel too sorry for us to rip on us. I felt that way after awhile about Denver last year - eventually it just got to the point where abusing Broncos fans was like picking on a little retarded kid. Unfortunately, this year I think WE'RE the little retarded kid.

My opinion doesn't count because I'm a Raider fan, but I'm not yet convinced the Chiefs have bottomed out. The tried and true qualities that have made your franchise successful may not have been evident in preseason, but I suspect that dormancy will break when the real kickoff is booted. Maulball and turnovers can frustrate the fanciest of teams. The big Chiefs on the line have often been able to dictate the pace of the game regardless of who the opposition is (especially at Arrowhead). If your big guys control the clock and your defense gets turnovers, you will compete for the division crown in spite of the schedule mismatch. Chiefs ball aint pretty and aint fancy, but it does wear down the fanciest of teams by the end of the game. If the score is close in the waning minutes, you can muscle through for a win. I've unfortunately seen it happen too often to assume that its all changed because you sucked in preseason. I'll hold off on overlooking the Chiefs until I see what your big guys have to say about it during the real games.

Duck,

You seem too intelligent to be a Raiders fan. What's up with that?

Love your take. Sometimes we can be too close to the trees to see the forrest.

don't the raiders still have a maximum iq test for fans?... zmack... http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
