View Full Version : Broncos' Shanahan: Illegal-block accusers are 'whiners'
09-15-2000, 01:48 PM
This is too funny!! Remind me again which team kept whining the KC wide receivers were throwing illegal chop blocks?
This is precisely why I have ZERO respect for Mike Whinerhan.
The 3 Stooges must go!!</B>

I guess we will have to see if they are trying to use their cut blocks again. It will be intersting if some more yellow flags get thrown this year.
It is funny to hear him whine about it, and say that he doesn't like whiners...

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Shanahan is always crying about something. What a joke.
09-15-2000, 03:18 PM
Geez, Y'all are bitter.
They never got fined for vaseline either but it was still wrong.
09-15-2000, 03:28 PM
All you have to do is watch a Donx game to see the validity of this statement. It's one thing if Darrell russell says it, but when the Rams are saying it too...Denver might have the rings, but they don't have the respect...
09-15-2000, 03:29 PM
Yeah, that whole vaseline thing ticked me off the most.
I wonder why they did not get fined for that???????????
Just making them change is not what I call true punishment, besides, who was there to prove they changed.

Let me get this straight: Somehow, over the last four years, the Broncos have managed to get the Commissioner's Office to turn its collective head, even though the Broncos are employing dirty and illegal tactics regularly?
Y'all ever listen to yourselves? You see any black helicopters lately? Should you maybe call Scully?

Pam - They had to wipe off their jerseys, not change.
As or the Donx and illegal blocks, the more teams that mention it the more likely it might get called on Sunday if they do it.
09-15-2000, 03:36 PM
The only conspiracy is that your beloved Donx wouldn't be in Denver if they didn't get the stadium bill passed. you do the math...
Face it, your team cheats...
09-15-2000, 03:37 PM
Drew - Their style of line blocking was made illegal after their last SB, so yes it is now cheating and should be flagged. Mayeb the coaches decided that since there was less attention this year that they might be able to get away with it, you know since they sucked so bad last year without it. I have not watched that closely for it yet, but I will now.

They also poke guys in the eye! Bastiges...
09-15-2000, 03:40 PM
Won't take long, Morph...Every play....NEAL and NALEN....
09-15-2000, 03:41 PM
You've all missed the point!!
Couple years back, there was this big brew-haha over Shanahan bitchin and moanin that the KC WRs were executing illegal chop blocks downfield. That is, blocking DBacks and LBackers below the waist. Basically, Shanerhan was WHINING for the zebras to throw a few flags our way for 2 weeks leading up to the KC-DEN matchup.
Now that the tables are turned, and others are bitchin and moanin about some of the Donkey's tactics, Whinahan calls them whiners!
I'm not whining one way or the other about thier blocking schemes. I'm simply pointing out that Whinahan is a hypocritical, 'always the victim of conspiracy' BS artist. Most head coaches are to some degree, but Whinahan tops the dung-pile.
The 3 Stooges must go!!</B>

Davis says Donx cheat on cap...Bowlen calls him a whiner... Numerous teams say the holding is still going on...Shanana claims whining...Kind of proves the point...

I think the whole story is that Shannahan was a little miffed that his RCB got his ACL blown on the opposite side of the field of the play. I imagine pretty much anybody might have something to say about that. It's apples and oranges.
Or maybe you're talking about Bountygate. I guess Denver is the only team that might be a little miffed when an opponents Olineman brags about bounty's on the radio, especially after a game in which both John Elway and Ed McCaffery were blatantly cheap shotted.
Just fess up to it-- y'all are bitter. Nothing else would explain why reportedly knowledgable football fans have to concoct a conspiracy to explain a rival's success. <P>
09-15-2000, 03:56 PM
Damn right I'm bitter..Donx didn't deserve to go in 97...And if they didn't go, you wouldn't have a team in Denver right now...
09-15-2000, 03:57 PM
CONCOCT. Did you see the officiating in that '98 playoff game????? I'd be willing to bet any amount of money that Jerry Markbreit and crew are Broncos Fans, and JM was wearing a Donkey jersey under his stripes.
Never say die. Go Chiefs.
09-15-2000, 06:00 PM
I don't know about any conspiracy and am not claiming that. But I am not afraid to call a spade a spade and never will be. The whole vaseline thing was crap. That is all that I said.
Congrats to your team for their recent success. I do, however remember the 80's and 90's before the Broncs actually won a SB. So please spare us the 'bitterness' speech.
I didn't miss the point coryt. I see the hypocracy. I just commented on the vaseline thing.

Nice picture Mania. A little FYI, but you can edit posts here, so that you can fix your post instead of reposting opps's.

I was thinking this thread could wait until next week. I guess every poster here is either counting San Diego a "W" or they have run down every angle twice.
As a Chiefs fan (since '70, die-hard since '88), I too have fallen into the whiner pit about Denver playing dirty. Of course my Bronco counterparts say the same about the Chiefs, especially since "The Bounty" of the Schottenhiemer era. I guess these same fellows will point to a "vast referee conspiracy", a curse directed against the Chiefs (although it opnly rears it's ugly head only when we are losing). Having lived in the metro area for 15 years I have to wonder where it is some of these whiners are truly from, since where I come from people like that are called "SORE LOSERS".
Man up and get over it. It's premature to start making excuses for losing to Denver at Mile High since the game hasn't even been played.

You guys kill me..
'they have the rings, but not the respect'
'pot calling the kettle black'
'Davis calls Bowlen a cheater... Bowlen calls him a liar, it's one thing for Darrell Russell to say they cheat, but the RAMS said it to... must be true'
'didn't deserve to go in 97 and had they not, Denver wouldn't have a team today'
Just a few of my favorite excerpts.
You guys are too much sometimes....
Put a good team together, get on a winning streak - have success in the playoffs and maybe that will change things for you guys.

I hope to hell the Broncos chop block every single play this Sunday. The Raiders need to go down because a 3-0 start does not bode well for the rest of the AFC West.
As for this "conspriracy" babble, sometimes its best to keep inconclusive thoughts to yourself. Shanny may be a hypocrite but he sure knows how to coach.
I just wish Gunther could be called something other than clueless.

MHM, you live in Denver?
You know damn well that Bowlen threatened to move the team if he didn't get his Arrowhead clone...
I respect Elway and Davis...They earned it...
