Since we lost to the Seahawks last year we have gone 7 games without a win (including the preseason)!

My stomach is churning as I think about it!

home for Seattle.... http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/smile.gif

We could be 2-3 or 3-2. Denver game could go either way. Depends on whether the play calling improves and how often the secondary gets burned...<BR>

I'm listening to the Chiefs radio and a fan calls in blaming Elvis. Now I'm no Grbacker, but this game wasn't his fault. He threw some bad passes, but there were a lot of dropped ones too. And he didn't call the plays. Good old JR did. The worst thing I can pin on him was the hurried screen pass for an interception and the two throw aways at the end.

What I'm worried about is whether the team has given up on itself? Have they already written off the Titans as another loss?

The only person I've heard suggest that the team has given up is you. Why do you ask questions like that unless you've heard the team talking like that?

I'm not happy we didn't win, but I'm certainly NOT embarassed by the loss, and I see several good things to build on. If we're going with a youth movement, then there are going to be bumps as the youngsters make young mistakes. It'll either come together or not, but I certainly didn't see anyone "giving" up on the season, except for a few "fans" like Mikey and the usual early flushing of the Grbashers.

You got me wrong there, MPF. I am a Chiefs fan through and through. I am also a realist, not a homer. But the Chiefs are my team win or lose. I don't walk away. I don't jeer because Gannon isn't there, or DT is gone, or the play calling sucks, or the secondary blows. They're still my team. If I eat crap this season served up for games, then that's just the way it goes. And if we go all the way, I'll be ecstatic!

But no matter what, the Chiefs are my team. I just don't live in The Nile...

By the way, I have a question for everyone, since I'm not sure it's been stated in the newspapers as a Chiefs quote...

Did Gunther or Peterson say:

a) "We are embarking on a youth movement"
b) "We are in a rebuilding season"

I haven't heard either of these statements officially. What I did here was that we have a talented team that is just as good or better than last years and our goal is the playoffs.

Am I missing something? 'Cause I've heard a lot of people on the BB proclaim a youth movement has been declared and we should expect these difficulties as a matter of course...

Could someone explain it to me?

Fly

I'm hardly living in denial. <sigh>

However, rather than spending my time grousing over the things that I didn't care for, I'd prefer to discuss the things that went right. I'm disappointed with the way things went and with the way the team played.

HOWEVER, I also saw a team that was competetive with a team that's picked to win the Super Bowl through three quarters. I saw a team that could have won that game. I saw a number of players who show a great deal of potential and given some time in the cruicible, they could turn out to be something pretty special. I saw that even though our receivers were dropping balls they had IN THEIR HANDS, they were getting seperation, something they DID NOT do last year. I saw Elvis stepping up into the pocket rather than spinning to the right. I saw Tony Richardson MOVING the pile when there was no hole. I saw Morris making some good catches and I see some true potential once he and Elvis get more comfortable.

Sure, I could grouse about the poor tackling, the missed passes, the interception, the abysmal play calling, especially to start the game, the inability to defend the screen (still).

But, I choose not to.

We're 0-1. Gee, we're one game out of the lead in the AFC West, after a game that most of us on this board knew was a toss up at best, and more than likely a loss. But we didn't get blown out like is happening to Seattle or Dallas. We were competetive and I see we have much to build on.

It's all in how you want to look at it. If that's the Nile, then just call me Ptolemy and build me a pyramid. http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/smile.gif

I agree with you. Officially, we're 0-1.

Here is one more stat for all of us to think about...

We've LOST 3 STRAIGHT Regular Season Games at Arrowhead (including the last two of the 1999 season).

We really all need to cogitate on what the team is really able to deliver.... and CHEER them on REGARDLESS!!!!!

Fly - Quit living in the past. This is a new season. http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

BTW, I'm not sure what topic to put this in, so this thread's as good as any...

Just an interesting note: Our rushing and recieving highs for today were T-Rich (58yds) and Morris (58yds). Wierd.

Okie-dokie, I'll put it in the past.

Just remember, if you don't learn from the mistakes of the past, you are bound to repeat them...<BR>
