Democrats also pointed to new disclosures on Bush's military service, underscoring a strategy to increase the heat on that topic.

The records, obtained under pressure of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by The Associated Press, despite earlier assertions by Bush and the Pentagon (news - web sites) that all records had been released, show Bush ranked in the middle of his 1969 Texas Air National Guard class and flew 336 hours in a fighter jet before letting his pilot status lapse and missing a key readiness drill.

The documents do not address the issue of Bush's later transfer to the Alabama Air National Guard.

A group called Texans for Truth planned to begin running an ad this week in which a lieutenant colonel in the Alabama Air National Guard questions Bush's absence from his National Guard service in Montgomery, Ala.

The ad asks "Was George W. Bush AWOL in Alabama?" and implores: "Tell us whom you served with, Mr. President." In the ad, Bob Mintz contends he served at the same base and in the same unit as Bush in 1972 but never saw Bush there. "It would be impossible to be unseen in a unit of that size," Mintz says in the ad.

McAuliffe, the Democratic National Committee (news - web sites) chairman, told reporters in a conference call that new records have "made the issue of the president's service, or lack thereof, completely fair game."

Before leaving for Florida, Bush met with James A. Baker III, his point man on upcoming presidential debates. McClellan, the White House spokesman, refused to comment on news reports suggesting that the president may insist on two debates, rather than the three recommended by an independent commission.

Damn another thread title that needs to be changed. No where in the article does it state "DNC takes bait". Hell no where in the article does it even state anything for anyone to believe such.

Thats fabulous.....

now.........what exactly, not slogan lines.....does each canidate plan to do with my country for the Next 4 years? History, family and friends have already let me know how Vietnam turned out......

Canidates.....what are you going to do with the WoT, Health care, Tax reform, creation of jobs, alternative fuels, military, education, and environmental issues.......start there.

Both parties should have a shock collar put on, turned up, and be zapped until they pee their pants, every time something not pertaining to the previous 10 years or next 4 is mentioned.

The DNC is still talking about Vietnam, aren't they?

The DNC still can't explain why Kerry won't talk to the press about his own Vietnam service and the contradictions in the different stories he's told through the years, can they?

Yes, but where is there proof that there was any "bait" put out. This makes the thread seem that the Republicans laid a trap for the DNC that they fell into. Clearly this is a misrepresentation of reality and needs to be corrected.

(note: I'm opposed to moderation of thread titles. Just making a point)

Like I've said, the DNC laid the trap for themselves when they nominated a guy that can/will only run on four months service in Vietnam.

It's all coming to fruition.

What part of 'only' is so hard to understand? Do you really feel that the race for the presidency amounts to nothing more than Bush and Kerry whipping out their cocks on military service 30+ years ago?
Kerry has a two pronged message;
1. I'm actually NOT George Bush, and
2. I'm a war hero.
And it'd be one thing if he started from there, and said "and here is my vision." But he says "I'll do great things, but I can't tell you what they are because I don't know enough details [not being president and all] to know what I'd do. But believe me, they'll be great ideas when I finally form them. Oh, and why are questioning my heroism by asking a question like that?"

Did you see the "only?" Besides, what cracks me up is that the Democrats, namely Kerry, seem to treat his 20 years in Congress as kryptonite.
