What are your thoughts on Darren Sproles? Do you think he's a legit NFL starting RB? Or do you think he's too small? Is he only a 3rd down RB? Is he only a situational RB? Is he only a KR/PR specialist?

Keep in mind other small RBs in the NFL like:

Priest Holmes - Yes, I know Priest is considerably bigger than Sproles.
Dante Hall
Barry Sanders
Warrick Dunn

What other 5'7" 180lb RBs can you think of that were successful in the NFL?

In what round will Sproles get drafted? Who might draft him? Should the Chiefs draft him? Why or why not? :hmmm:

Are there any NFL draft websites that predict when he'll be drafted and who'll draft him? Please post the links if you know of any.

Discuss..............

Enjoy!!

I'd love for the Chiefs to draft Sproles, but I don't know what we'd do with him. He isn't going to replace Dante Hall as KR/PR specialist. He isn't going to be turned into a WR like Dante was. He, in my view, is too small to be a starting RB and take over for Priest when he retires. I guess he could be a backup to Priest, but that would be a waste if he can't become a full time starter. He could be a really good 3rd down RB, but that would be a waste of a roster spot, wouldn't it?

late 1st or 2nd rounder even........dude has alot of talent but is too small unfortunatly...he does have alot of heart though which you cant discount. The guy he reminds me alot of is Napoleon Kauffman who had a few nice years with the Raiders.

Napoleon was 5'9" 185 - similar size, I agree.

he is similar in size to Quentin Griffin of the Donkos... except Griffin has a few more pounds.

Yeah he could start. Hopefully for him the team he goes to has a decent O-Line. And no, we should not draft him. Not with Brian Shay just sitting around waiting for a call.

I like Sproles alot, I think he would do good in our offense. KC kid thats why I love him on the team but if we win it all this year and Priest retires then yes draft him. But if not then no.

Crowd surfin, Key-shakin, and Wabashin my way to a Wildcat Victory!

You might've needed to do a bit more of that yesterday. Guess I don't have to go to the trouble of putting Sproles in my sig now.

After watching the Chiefs / Bronco's game, I hope the Chief trade Larry Johnson to Tampa Bay for Keenan McCardell. Then, next year, we draft Sproles to eventually replace Holmes.

Don't confuse Sproles with Q. Griffen. QG is a much more powerful back than Sproles, IMO. Not to mention, I'll bet Darren is 2 inches shorter (5'5", maybe 5'6").

3rd down back or Kick returner..........3-4th round....not to the Chiefs.

Troy Davis was a smaller back, rushed for 2000 yards in 2 consecutive seasons, and wasn't an early selection either.

Sproles sure looked like a feature back in the NFL while getting pounded last saturday, didn't he, GF?

I read the same thing the other day, 5'5". Reminds me of Eric Bienemy of Colorado who never made it past KR. Mid to late round choice.

I saw a highlight film of a LB grabbing him by the jersey and throwing him 10 yards.
