View Full Version : Stupid quote: you decide

So which quote do you think is the dumbest?

#1 - "When I was a kid growing up, just about every girl said 'no' once. They had to because you'd think they were a slut or something. In my opinion, 'date rape' and 'stranger rape' are two differnt things entirely. Any adult who has an active sex life understands that you can't have sex that way without both parties helping out, it's impossible." OJ Simpson

#2 - "I made a consious decsion to break away from big films when I got alcohol out of my life. I had been sucked into the blockbuster, box office mentality and it was destroying my sense of purpose in life. The lonliness of fame was messing with my head." Patrick Swayze

#3 - I love money, I love women, I like to work hard and I don't use drugs." Gene Simmons

#4- The drug dealers they sympathize with me. They see me as some sort of pathetic character. They have got more money than me. Imagine that. When I had money I was an animal. I wasn't that nice of a person. Just because you buy mansions and cars doesn't mean you know what money is worth." Mike Tyson

Has to be either 1 or 2. 3 is not stupid at all, IMO and 4 is somewhat poignant.

I'll vote for 1 since, IMO, the intended message isn't even clear. 2 is dumb but it is more like he is lying to himself to make himself feel better.

You think it is easy to have a successful carreer in entertainment that lasts for more than 3 decades?

I vote #1 simply because of who said it.

I suppose Priest Holmes doesn't work hard, either? After all, he "plays" football for a living.

I think Patrick Swayze is telling the truth. If the guy wanted Blockbuster films I'm sure he could get them. But he's picked small films like Donnie Darko, that don't suck.

I'm a Donnie Darko Fanboy :nerd:

What he really does best is market himself. Specific avenues that I know about have been writing music, touring/ promoting that music (including marketing toys, comics, etc.), producing music (his and others'), acting, and (recently) jounalism.

what he does is not hard...football players do not go to "war" like some say they do....getting paid millions of dollars to stay in shape is not hard....a hard job is getting shot at my thugs and thieves, hard is waking up at six am and knowing someone is going to die...writing music or playing football may be demanding but is hardly hard IMHO

You're modifying the meaning of his statement.

"Hard" was used as an adverb, not an adjective. It was used to described the level of effort he puts into his pursuits, not the degree of difficulty of said pursuits (tho, some would argue that declaring professional football or music "not difficult" is ridiculous).

Shit man, how many college players would want to play in NFL? How many of them are ABLE to? You are comparing very different and uncomparable things. Football players AND popular band members have to work VERY hard, often sacrificing their health and their bodies.

I just have a totally different take on what hard is....running into a burning building....than most people I suppose, but what endo said adverb not adjective...sometimes I wonder if he should be the english teacher and not SDChiefsfan :hmmm:

I don't know how I would define the work firemen/policemen/soldiers do, but it sure takes a lot more courage.
