Panthers - RB S.Davis Out 2-5 Weeks
Charlotte Observer - [Full Article]

Carolina Panthers running back Stephen Davis is out two to five weeks with a knee cartilage injury suffered near the end of practice Thursday. Panthers coach John Fox said the team would not change the offense, and that he has confidence in Deshaun Foster to assume Davis' role.

Either way I like the breaks that we are getting.

This could be worse than having Davis in. At least our slow defensive line has a chance of catching Davis. Foster is big, strong, AND quick. I have no idea why Carolina signed Davis long term

Iowanian
09-17-2004, 11:33 AM
Davis and Smith Both being out, is going to hurt the Panther's chances of a win in Arrowhead.

Foster is a nice 2nd option, but needs to prove he can take 20 carries and not put the ball on the ground.

now back to deshaun--f*ck yes, we'll turn him into OJ simpson come sunday (the only comparable RB I could think of that came out of a southern cal school aside from marcus allen)

You guys are WAY overreacting.

Davis rushed for 1440 yards last year in 14 games.

Foster started two games last year, BOTH at home, against Tampa Bay and Detroit.

Against Tampa he had 22 rushes for 56 yards (2.5ypc) and no TDs.

Against DETROIT, he had 21 rushes for 76 yards (3.6ypc) and no TDs.

He's GREAT as a change-of-pace guy, but he takes EXTREME advantage of defenses that have been pounded to exhaustion by Davis.

Exactly what I was thinking. Davis worries me a little more because of his ability to run between the tackles and wear the entire middle of our defense out.

Foster only scares me when he's being used as a change of pace back. He won't be as effective as a starter, IMO.

I hate to place so much on an early season game, but it might be time to pack it in if we can't beat Carolina at Arrowhead, with them down their best receiver and running back.

As a starter last year, Foster BARERLY rushed for 100 yards and no TD's -- on FIFTY carries.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Panthers running back Stephen Davis will miss Sunday's game at Kansas City because of swelling in his knee that could sideline him two to five weeks.

Davis began having problems with his knee after practice Thursday, and an MRI showed "a small cartilage problem," coach John Fox said Friday.

Doctors planned surgery for Friday.

The Panthers lost leading receiver Steve Smith for at least eight weeks after he broke his leg Monday in a loss to Green Bay. Davis struggled in that game, running for just 26 yards.

DeShaun Foster is expected to start in Davis' place.

"As I told the team, we have got 53 men out here we think we can start and win for us. They have got to step up," Fox said. "It is part of the game. Kansas City is going to play without some starters. These guys understand that. It is not the first time it has happened."

Davis is coming off the best season of his career, rushing for a career-best 1,444 yards and helping Carolina win the NFC championship while earning his third Pro Bowl invitation.

Davis also had career marks for rushing touchdowns (eight), rushing attempts (318) and 100-yard rushing games (seven).

After Stephen Davis uncovered Bush's service records...

The white house sent a group of midget porn stars to take out his knee with a metal pipe. Worse still, the pipe was not properly protected and the midgets will be fined. This may not seem like much, but midget porn makes up most of North Carolina's tax revenue and the state is in a fiscal chrisis. They may not be able to fund their midegt porn star tossing contest at the state fair. This swirl of events will somehow cause a newly formed hurricane to ravage Florida.
