Anyone able to watch it? I've got every other Big 1(1) game but that one.

Nope, listening on the radio. KU is down 13-10 in the 4th quarter. Offense should've had 2 more scores but they were wated opportunities. :shake: Defense has once again been solid. KU seems to have the momentum now. 1st down at the NW 16.

Touchdown Northwestern. NW 20 KU 17. 52 yard screen play killed KU. I think the defense is tired because the offense didn't do much in the first half. 5:25 left in the game. Still time for KU to tie with a FG or win with a TD.

BTW, KU drove down the field but mistakes once again stalled the drive. Beck missed his 2nd FG of the game, a 43 yarder. NW runs out the clock. NW 20 KU 17 :(

Strange. Beck was the toast of the town as Frosh.

Dude has struggled terribly since then.

I recently found out that Adam Barmann (the KU QB) graduated from my highschool... and his brother Brian is a freshman TE at Mizzou.

Pretty cool. West Platte is a tiny school...

We need to get Ball State on the schedule.Yeah, that previously winless Northwestern team is MUCH tougher; one of their losses was to TCU (who got douched today by Tech 70-35).

Beck is a mental case. He's been given every opportunity to prove himself. He's terrible. He made a 50 yarder in the season opener, but I think he's an 0'fer since.

Barmann is solid. I'm really excited about him and his maturation. Put a consistent back behind him and strengthen the line and KU could seriously be challenging the big boys in the north.

Running game, at least looking at the stats, seemed anemic today. Is N'western that good, or were we that bad? That's not gonna help us this year against the big boys. Randall and Clark are a good 1-2, but I think the line needs dramatic improvement.

Defense again solid. Looks like they had a let down late though. Took N'western less than a minute to score late in the 4th. Of course they were probably tired from being on the field so much most of the game. Still not an excuse. This was a winnable game that got away.

A lot of my fellow Jayhawkers were pumped after last week's win, talking all kinds of junk about beating K-State and Nebraska. While I believed it to be within the realm of possibility, and still do this year (at least more so than in the recent past), I think give us a couple of years and people won't laugh at us when we say those things.

As for you David, it stands to reason that you'd be on here hatin. I'm one of the biggest Mizzou haters out there, but at least my school wins stuff every now and then (not so much in football) to give me a reason to be proud. Get used to having your greatest successes be everyone else's failures.

Interesting tidbit.

It appears Scott Webb kicked both PAT's and hit a 27 yard FG.

Seems a bit odd that Beck would be given the duty of tying the game.

Could have a been a confidence builder. Turned into a back breaker.

Barmann threw the ball fifty times today. He won't last through the month doing that in Big 12 play.

I don't know what Mangino is doing here. He lets Webb kick extra points and short (35 yards and in) field goals, and gives Beck the long attempts and kick offs. Beck missed several PAT's last year, and one in the season opener this year. I say give him kickoffs only. Webb can't be any worse on long attempts. He may even make a few.

As for Barmann, you're right William. I have a feeling that the O-line won't stand up to the bigger D's. Barmann will be running for his life and our backs won't get very far, especially if they couldn't against North freakin Western. Hopefully it won't hurt his confidence because he can clearly do the job, and Rideau is a fine receiver.

Our only chance this year against K-State, Nebraska, and probably Mizzou is an unconventional game. Fakes, gimmick plays and the like on offense and continued solid D. The kicking game won't win it for us, that's for sure.
