SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Los Angeles police seized 388 guns from one man, more than were recovered in the city all last year, a police spokeswoman said on Saturday.

Police seized 11 guns on Thursday from the car of Wayne Wright, 56, along with another he had illegally sold to an undercover officer. After his arrest, police searched his home in the nearby suburb of Simi Valley and found 376 more firearms.

"Last year there were 348 firearms seized (in Los Angeles). This year there have been 411, including the 388 that were seized from Wayne Wright," Officer Sandra Escalante said.

"There were rifles, shotguns, handguns and assault weapons" recovered from Wright's home, Escalante said.

A silencer and thousands of rounds of ammunition, including armor-piercing rounds, were also recovered from Wright's home, Escalante said. Possession of a silencer and armor-piercing bullets are felonies in California, she noted.

Wright is not a licensed gun dealer and may have been engaged in illegal gun trafficking, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

I believe in everyone's right to own a gun or two, but 388? Where do ya put all those guns? And what do ya do with them? Perhaps they're really sex toys? or foreplay assistants?

What the hell is wrong with owning 388 guns? Some people own thousands of sports cards that they collect through out the years. What is the difference between that and collecting guns?

I bet there are a lot of collectors who own that many

Obviously this guy was selling them illegally and I'm sure the number is uncommon but I am sure he is far from the only person who owns that many

My X-brother-in-law (who is filthy rich) has a basement full of assault rifles and other odds and ends...

But he's also an "end-of-the-worlder" and believes when the end comes he'll be ready...

The one with the most guns wins... in his view... ;)

It's not the number of guns that's important... it's the amount of ammunition ;)

Game, set and match.

Did you know that it has been unlawful to posses an automatic weapon since 1938?

Next question; What is an "uzi?" Just curious again.

You wonder now why your "assault weapons ban" was boggus?

I think you're the only one playing.

but, just so you don't feel lonely I'll play along...

Why do we have any limitation at all on the type of weaponery a citizen can own? Why can't I own a tank or thermonuclear warhead? What precisely is the definition of 'arms' that precludes them? If it has to be something hand held so you can 'bear' it, then why not RPGs or stingers? As I understand it the 2nd amendment seems more like it was included to provide for violent revolution than simply for home defense.

Is that you're way of saying you agree? :)

If that's the spirit of the law and the letter is a bit fuzzy since 'arms' is a pretty generic term for weaponery, how can one justify any limitation on privately owned firepower?

Yes, that's pretty much it. Remember that it was Thomas Jefferson (originally a strict constructionist who definitely approved of the 2nd amendment) who said: "A little rebellion once in a while is a good thing...the Tree of Liberty must from time to time be refreshed with the blood of Patriots..."
