Listening to some of my recent purchases has helped me from dispairing that today's music is irretrievably broken.

Franz Ferdinand
The Killers
Polyphonic Spree
Rufus Wainright
N.E.R.D.
Coheed and Cambria
My Morning Jacket

just a few listening suggestions to lighten your mood and get your toes tapping.

I accidently bumped something that sent the thread before I completed it. So rather than trying to get it deleted and starting over, I went ahead and edited it.

Actually,Pixies do have a new song that was recently released
on iTunes.

Supposedly they are going to record again after the current tour.

Just as a heads up:The new Interpol CD hits stores on the 28th.

All good stuff. I'm really liking My Morning Jacket these days. FF is also really good. Check out Iron and Wine as well. Similar vein. I also like the Decemberists a lot. However, I really can't get The Clash on Broadway (3 CD boxed set) out of my changer long enough to listen to much of my "new" music.

BTW, what did you think of Wilco's new album?

I am a big big NERD fan and have been for a while. Rufus Wainwright is always really good...not for everyone but I am a big fan. Chooed and Cambria is really interesting...I am just now getting a good listen of them aside from their single.

BL, I would reccomend listening to Snow Patrol. They are a little bit like My Morning Jacket with a style that is less abstract and doesn't have as much static.

Don't know how I got out of this thread without mentioning one of my favorites, Modest Mouse. They're actually getting airplay these days, which is on the bizarre side, but their older albums are as good or better than the current one (I particularly like Building Something Out of Nothing). Don't hesitate to pick up their new album, though, if you haven't already.

They also put on a really good live show.

Mos Def rocks. Check out his album with Talib Kweli, Black Star, if you haven't already. Absolutely great hiphop. I think they might be releasing a new album together in the near future.
