KC, Wiegmann close on contract extension
The Kansas City Star
The Chiefs and center Casey Wiegmann are close to agreement on a three-year contract extension that would be worth around $2.7 million per season. If Wiegmann and the Chiefs agree to terms of an extension, every starting member of the Chiefs' offensive line would be under contract through the 2005 season.
The 6-foot-2, 285-pound Wiegmann originally signed a six-year free-agent contract with the Chiefs before the 2001 season and has started 49 of a possible 50 games in a Chiefs uniform. Now in his ninth season out of Iowa, Wiegmann is considered to be one of the top centers in the NFL and the anchor of the league's best offensive line.
