Why would Clark sign off on a complete tear down, trade away the teams best defensive player, leave 30 million under the cap, give Carl the ability to trade away the teams best offensive player and then fire the coach and GM for not fielding a competitive team?

Because we never had any intention to be competitive this season.

Notice what Clark DIDN'T say. He didn't say, "Of course Herm will be coaching the Chiefs next year. He's under contract."

If the Chiefs finish 1-15 Herm isn't coming back. If the Chiefs finish 5-11, he is.

The same that Fringe is, apparently.

I think it's perfectly clear that Herm and Carl are gone come January.

I think that SOME of the people that are claiming otherwise are doing so out of emotion, and not looking at the interview.

As Clayton said, what's Clark going to do, come out and say, "Yeah, Herm and Carl really suck, but I'm going to wait until the end of the season to fire them." - just to satisfy some fans?

I'm sorry dude, as much as I wish it were not true. Herm, and Carl are completely safe.

I don't think the product on the field has as much to do with is as the shit that's going on behind the scenes and in the locker room.

If management has lost the team, as many here claim they have, then all those reasons you listed mean nothing.

Reading between the lines. Unless things improve dramatically over the rest of the season. Carl is out of here.

Is Carl Peterson doing a good job?

"I think he is. Going back to our discussion about the scouting side working hand in hand with the coaching side, that really starts with Carl. He’s done a good job of overseeing that.

Have you made a decision on his future?

I haven’t. I would give you the same answer with him that I gave you with Herm.

His contract also has one year left when this season is over. Have you had a discussion with him about what he wants to do?

When we re-signed Carl three years ago, he mentioned to me at the time that he planned to retire at the end of his contract. He and I have not had a specific discussion on that point, but I don’t have any reason to believe his desires have changed."

If Carl want to be the GM next season, he will be.

He's damn near praising the guy.
