In kind of a related question for the QB crowd like I am...
What if Stafford is the only QB to come out this draft? Would you consider a move up to #1 with the Lions to get him? It is a question that won't have to be answered until the 15th of this month when the underclassmen have to be decided on their choice, but it is something to maybe think about over the next few days. |

I’m sure this has been said many times before in this thread or other threads, but I will say it again. The quarterback position is the most important position on the football team. NFL salaries show this to be true. The position also requires the most time to groom and train for the team to be successful. IF Stafford, Bradford, or Sanchez looks to be future franchise quarterbacks, they have to be selected with the Chiefs 1st round pick. Defensive ends, safeties, linebackers do not require as much grooming and can be picked either next year or in later rounds this year. I know selecting a bad QB can set the team back a few years but also waiting until 2010 to select a 1st round QB sets them back at least a year.

I'm fine with Stafford, but he needs a year on the bench. One more year of sucking hard, a nice draft/FA period in '10 then Stafford goes balls-out to win in his second year. |

He's 20 years old. He could use a year to mature and grow. |
I don’t think the Chiefs should give up on Tyler Thigpen, but they should not give him the keys to the kingdom and tell him he is king. Draft a very good college quarterback and have competition. If Tyler continues to grow it gives the Chiefs strength at that position and allows them future trade possibilities. It takes time to groom and grow young quarterbacks. It would not be bad to have Tyler quarterbacking next year unless the only reason he is there is because we have no one else.

with all our other problems... DE,MLB, RT shall we go on? QB is next year if Thiggy isn't the answer long term.

I think it has to be QB or LT as those are the BPA. I've been high on Mays but I've been waiting for him to break out. He has not been called to blitz alot and he doesnt have the ball skills to be a difference maker. He has every physical tool you can want but when assessing NFL talents I think a player like Eric Berry might be a more desired prospect despite not having the meassurables.
Mays is not a Sean Taylor and thats really what you want when drafting a top 3. Now I wouldnt be upset with the pick but its a leap of faith (he is going to be very good but probably not great). |
