Brock 06-19-2011 09:10 PM

rocknrolla 06-19-2011 09:13 PM

What a load of shit. Doubt I'll watch next season.

keg in kc 06-19-2011 09:18 PM

Well, that doesn't sound promising.

Caught the replay, half-watched at work. Kind of liked the end, they'd been teasing Holder as shady all season. Not sure it exactly leaves me hungry for more, though.

Pitt Gorilla 06-19-2011 11:56 PM

I liked it. I'm ready for season two.

I started getting numb to the absurdities halfway through the episode, but the fact that Bennett Ahmed's wife had NO IDEA who she was talking to was some particularly inspired bullshit.

And I know its redundant to keep talking about the terrible police work, but now they've gone from being shitty cops to actually celebrating their shittiness. That scene in the garage where Linden discovers there's more gas in the tank than was noted -- information that would have been available to her since DAY ONE -- and she starts grinning and puffing out her chest. Dear lord. Just awful.

So are we supposed to think that Holder legitimately tried to frame Richmond and didn't think anyone would follow-up to make sure those traffic pictures were real? Or are we supposed to think that Holder would throw his entire career away just for the sake of embarrassing Richmond for a day? Because either way it's pretty reeruned.

But I do like that Holder's plot to frame Richmond went something like "we'll ignore that the girl was found in one of his cars, basically drop him as a suspect, chase after janitors and teachers and terrorists, then magically dumb-luck our way back to Richmond, at which time I will lower the boom on him". He is to framing what Linden is to investigating.

BTW, the woman behind the show has done interviews since the finale ended. Holy Christ. I haven't seen delusion on this grand a scale since Vince Russo.

Blankey 06-20-2011 07:25 AM

Shame, this show started out so strong.

Skyy God 06-20-2011 10:36 AM

Couldn't make it through the first 5 minutes of the pilot..... looks like my instincts were on the mark.

lol, true on so many points...

The fact that the pregnant lady wouldn't know who Stan Larsen was is just ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that he was able to get that close to the teacher, hahahaha, no way.

And I'm hoping that the writing is saying that just getting Richmond arrested is enough to ruin his chance for office. Because to think that they actually wrote into the plot that Holder thinks he could get away with photoshopped bridge security pictures when the cameras aren't working at all is just laughable. I really hope they address this in the next season.

Didn't really feel like a season finale... More like just another episode. I still like the mood and some of the actors but the plot is getting to be way too much teh funneh.

Pasta Little Brioni 06-20-2011 05:07 PM

Sooooooo disappointed in this show.

AMC's president responds to 'The Killing' finale criticism:

http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/06/24/th...7H-LN-'The Killing': AMC prez responds to criticism of finale: EW exclusive

AMC president and general manager Charlie Collier broke his silence on last week’s finale of The Killing, saying the network didn’t anticipate such a strong backlash among some viewers and critics.

“We underestimated the passion of viewers have for closure within this season,” Collier says. “It was never our intention to misguide the viewer. The audience has an important voice, we heard them and don’t take them for granted.”

The critically acclaimed first season of The Killing teased viewers with the tagline for its central mystery “Who Killed Rosie Larsen?” then declined to solve the case in the finale, instead rolling the story into next season in a last-minute twist. The show plans to introduce a new mystery at the start of season 2 and then solve the Larsen case.
Collier spearheaded the network’s rise to become a top outlet for quality drama series, ordering shows like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and The Walking Dead. He says if the network could have done anything differently, it would have been to do more to prevent viewers from expecting the murder to be solved in the season closer. “I stand by [showrunner] Veena Sud, and risk-taking is what we do; cliffhangers are a staple of TV and a huge part of mysteries,” Collier says. “If I could do anything differently, it would be to manage expectations.”
