Gone are the days of the Shula's and Walsh's. On average, the coaching at today's level seems to be despicable in its attention to things like clock management. I can only hope this is just a downcycle before we have some good coaches again.

My hypothesis is because the coaching profession has become such a good-ole-boy profession that the cream can't rise to the top because of all the associations and barriers for the top minds coming up. The sons and relatives of good/great coaches in the past are the ones that get all the preference for the big jobs today.

Also, I think it's time for the NFL to hire full-time referees

This offensive performance is a perfect example of what happens when a QB can't get untracked. The receivers start dropping balls, coaches start panicking, everyone starts pressing.
