Um, yes. It's how babies eat. It's a vastly more appropriate comparison than pooping in the hall or masturbating on a bus, and those have both been used. My point isn't that it's the same, anyway, it's that using other people's opinions of what is normal to determine how to meet your or your family's needs is incredibly stupid.

Just did a google search of "best age to stop breast feeding" and found forums of people advocating breast feeding until 7/8 years old. WTF?

Again, are you talking about BABIES period, or are you including toddlers. There is a huge difference.

Never said I didn't see it as out of the norm. I said I don't think it's creepy, it's not obscene and that it's not a big deal.

I can see how it would be viewed as out of the norm. I strongly disagree and find it stupid that people think it's weird, but I understand that some people think that way.

A friend of mine married into a family where this is the norm. When he started dating this chick, she had a little brother who was 5 who was still breastfeeding.

That being said: Anyone who argues for formula over breast milk is smoking rock. Women breastfeeding in public is also fine by me. Of course... that being said, I'd be a little uncomfortable watching a mom breastfeed a 5 year old in public.
