These guys were opening for a couple bands I went to see earlier this year. I caught the back end of their set and was overcome with **** Yeah! I never caught their name, but I finally got my hands on this.

From right here in KC, Vanlade.

Still, it's fun to be in on the ground floor. So this is your notice to get in on the ground floor.

Ironically, I was searching out the proper thread to ask the cool kids if I was supposed to be enjoying Fun as much as I have for so long. Their most recent SNL appearance has me mainlining the album all over again.

It's like Freddie Mercury and Paul Simon had a secret love child who actually founded the REAL Polyphonic Spree, and I find nothing wrong with any aspect of that scenario.

But I fear my inevitable descent into fogeyism

Then again, FTR, I don't give a shit what anyone thinks of my Mumford love. Folk with roots in the Emerald Isle has always had a centerplace in my heart

Does the opinion of a fogey like New Chief carry enough weight for you to feel good about this or does it confirm your fears? :)

Hey... I called Fun. a 1-hit wonder. I was wrong.

They have two hits.

In addition, Alt-J hasn't taken off, yet.

Quoting NC d/t his citation of Fun was not intended to indicate that the question was directed towards him alone, but to indicate my sense that I found the right thread to pose the question generally.

Fair enough. Based on your post, I'm listening to Fun.'s latest again (I wasn't terribly impressed with it the first time aside from their two hits) and it sounds pretty decent now to my fogeyish ears. I like your Freddie Mercury / Paul Simon comparison. I think it's changed the way I'm hearing it this time.

Further irony, I'm listening to the H'Ween Who Charted, and longtime Funfan Koo-koo Knee-high-socks just remarked 'even I'm getting tired of it'

But some nights is still top 5.

I've been listening to all of the things, considering its the start of Year End Best Of List Season.

Today I re-visited:
First Aid Kit - The Lion's Roar
Tame Impala - Lonerism
Sharon Van Ettan - Tramp
Migel - Kaleidoscope Dream

and listened to Heems - Wild Water Kingdom.

Up next tomorrow is Cities Aviv's new album, Black Pressure

Chris Hardwick summarizes 'Some Nights'

'If there was a rave scene in The Lion King on Broadway.'

LOL

I may catch a lot of flack for this and I'm at the point where I think I can accept it.

But, I really dig Locked Out of Heaven by Bruno Mars.
