I'd give Reid A LOT more credit if Kolb was the starter in Philly. Of course, if that were the case, Reid would still be coaching there.

Credit him for exactly what you just brought up you idiot. Kolb was the most valuable QB in the class, the only one anyone thought was worth anything. I can't help you if you don't see Reid has got a way with QBs.

I would fully support a gm that balls and tried something new and didn't do the "safe" thing just because he's worried about his job.

Yep. Mentioned that earlier today.

I was one of the CP crowd last spring trying to explain why we might take DeCastro at #11. I realized that was too early for a guard, but the talking heads said he was a once in a generation guard, so I went with it.

Then Pittsburgh drafted him and he had a terrible preseason.

Now, Mayock is telling us that there are two more once-in-a-generation guards available in this draft? I'm sorry. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice and screw you. I had a hard enough time convincing myself that I could live with a guard at #11. There is no way I can see taking a guard sooner than that. If you want Womack, trade down to #11 and take him, but don't waste my time with this nonsense.

This is a QB league. This is certainly not a guard league.

I really wish he would have gone. I know it's a business decision, but I'm tired of this "guard at #1" talk.

However, it seems that he was able to not go to the SR bowl and still have a pretty good chacne to be the pick. So I can't say it hurt him too awful bad.

And where did he get the QB that he got the most out of?

Get it right or not do it at all can make you too "scared" for lack of better word, to make the right choice.

Just mentioning the stakes. And they have to get it right. I trust these guys with that position as much as any brain trust in the NFL

So we're not worried about Reid actually finding a QB that can PLAY?

BTW, Matt Moore was the best QB in that class, so Reid reached on Kolb by quite a large margin. At least he was able to put together the smoke and mirrors and convince the Cardinals Kolb was worth something, even though Reid himself knew he wasn't.

As for Reid's way with QBs, name them. Outside of Donovan McNabb, who was the #2 overall pick (and a GREAT pick by Reid, btw. He identified the best QB in THAT class by a mile), what QB "magic" has Reid actually performed?

Good thing Te'o flamed out. Otherwise we could be hearing debates over whether to take a guard or a MLB at #1.

1st round, surrounded by busts at the same position. Reid got it right.

Geno himself acknowledged that.

That's why he's doing the whole show at the combine, against his agents' wishes.

It just kept him in line with the other QB's in the back end of the first round talk.

It wasn't about being better than the the other QB's as much as it was about raising his own stock to be worth a top 10 pick.

Yes he did.

But outside of that 1 time, what else has he done?

I think Reid is a GREAT coach, I really do.

But this idea that he's a QB "guru" is extremely overblown.

I trust them too, but there is also part of me that sees the "Chiefs Stigma" and thinks it may not matter who's choosing what.

When it comes to the KC Chiefs QB, I'm a pessimistic, jaded, cynical asshole. I guess Matt Cassel can do that to you.
