Doesn't matter. This statement just isn't correct. They were not the worst team in football until he lost his starting job.

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet

Teams in the mix for Sean Smith: #Eagles, #49ers, #Bucs, #Chiefs. No decision yet. Of course, none of this interest is a surprise

there honestly, is no use even presenting facts to him. If anyone that wants to argue about alex smith with me, cant even acknowledge the difference that coaching and a gm makes, then I dont have time for them.

The situation here is so eerily similar to san francisco heading into 2011, and the chiefs now, minus the lockout, its scary.

But, they wont acknowledge it. Alex Smith sucks.....thats all they know.

Fine by me. I think personally, hes average.....but, let them think what they want.

I can tell you there's a good amount of optimism in the Chiefs FO today that Smith will be a Chief.

if they pull sean smith, along with dunta robinson, that is a huge get for the chiefs. HUGE.

Just asked about Smith this morning. Been a busy day for me and I know it is for the guy I get info from.

Not sure how to feel about this, knowing that Smith is probably going to wind up as the starting CB2.

If it weren't at the expense of Carr, I would have been cautiously optimistic for the Stanford Routt deal last offseason. I think I'll approach the Smith deal the same way. Hopefully this one works out much better for us.

I would hope so. 4pm is going to be a hectic news period.

We could do a hell of a lot worse; he's not good against small, fast WRs (Flowers is) and Flowers isn't good against the big, physical WRs (Smith is). We'd have a damn nice little pairing.

That said, I hope they don't go above $6-7 mil/season for him. That's the going rate for #2 cbs and that's all he is. I'd rather have DRC at a reasonable #2 contract than Smith at a #1 contract.

Sorter 03-12-2013 12:58 PM

Well, if Smith can't turn into at least an average/above average corner with Thomas + Harris as far as skills go, then he's ****ed IMO.

Of course, if our offense is similar to the past 3 years and leaves our defense on the field repeatedly, then I'll have to reserve judgement.

Off topic, but can anyone pull up how many times KC played with a lead going into the 4th quarter last year (ideally, it would be the past 3 but I'm not really too particular).
