And the "West Texas BBQ" place is in California???

I will go check this place out. I lived in KC for 40 years so I know my BBQ. The locals here in San Diego do not have a clue what good BBQ is. Everyone here raves about Phil's BBQ and it is just OK. I really miss Jack Stack BBQ.

Yeah, it's a gas station... I don't need fancy, but it's a gas station. If they were all that awesome you'd think they'd maybe open a restaurant.

Sweet. Been to two in the top 10. That Alinea is one weird ass place to eat. I wasn't for sure what was food and what was part of the decorations.

For the person who mentioned Strouds. It should be on here. Pan fried chicken in soybean oil is sickeningly good.

Anybody been to Papa Bob's BBQ? It was on the Man vs Food episode with Strouds. It looked good, but haven't been yet.

Um, dude, the gas station is the original location. They have two other regular restaurant locations in KC. The original location in the gas station is the funkiest for atmosphere.

The best one we have here just upgraded to a gas station. They've been selling out of an RV for years.

I haven't tried LC's. I'm gonna have too now.

Pulled pork I go to Oklahoma Joe's. I also like their beans the best. Don't even get me started on the Z-man, it's so ****ing good. Outside of Jack Stack's poor Russ, it's the best sammich in town.
Pork Ribs I go to Arthur Bryant's.
Burnt Ends I go to Jack Stack's. Their cheesy corn bake is ****ing awesome too.
Some place that isn't open anymore in Olathe I went too for the hash bowl and it was ****ing money.
I don't go to Gate's.

Seems like I go someplace different depending on what I'm in the mood for.

I've eaten at one other OK Joe's besides the original, and since eating at the original, I don't even **** with the rest.

I've only been to the one on Strang Line.

But when I think "KC barbeque" I think burnt ends and pork ribs. I don't think beef brisket or pulled pork, the things that I believe OK Joe's does best.

That's why I think OK Joes is overrated for "KC Barbeque." I'd go to Gates, Bryants, LC's and Jack Stack any day of the week over OK Joes.

I have to honest - Out here in Olathe, we have a little dive called "Smokin' Joes" on Santa Fe. I've been eating the grub there for years and years and I actually prefer it to Oklahoma Joe's. Personal preference I guess.

Their chicken is fried in shortening.

Nice to see a KC joint on top. I'm driving down to San Antonio next month. On the down I'm going to stop by Franklins BBQ in Austin to see if it's worth all the hype.

They have one in Tulsa, which is nowhere close to the original in KC. I was so disappointed when I ate there.
