For that much dough, you could build a monster system, IMO. I've been building computers since 1997 and it's super easy.

I'd recommend using Amazon.com. Free 2 day shipping for Prime members, easy return policy for defective parts and great pricing.

Quick question: What's the advantage of PC gaming (especially considering cost) versus the various game consoles?

Hey, where's the Wii on that graphic chart?

LMAO

Thanks for the link. I'm not a gamer but my five year old has already mastered Super Mario Brothers and Rayman Origins, so I'm looking to buy her a Wii U for Christmas.

Wii's are awesome for kids. Don't hesitate for a moment.

Yeah, she loves the original Wii but she's outgrown it already.

She goes on YouTube to learn all the tricks and to navigate each world, then replicates it from memory. But the newer games are all for Wii U and she's been begging for one since June.

I've been giving her the usual "it's way too expensive" line the entire time so it'll be a great surprise on Christmas morning.

Wii U is great. Lots of good family oriented games. Super Mario World 3D just got released.

Yeah, I'm going to purchase the Wii U bundle with Super Mario and Super Luigi Brothers, along with Rayman 3 and Mario 3D (both of which will be from Santa).

The Lego games are great too. Been playing Marvel Superheroes with my son lately.

I'm going to be building in about 2 weeks. Pretty excited. Watched about 3 hours worth of building guides last night and I feel like I'm ready. I'm really happy with the setup that is in the OP.

The only things that will change is the case fans I will use. Plan on finding some nice blue LED case fans that are relatively quiet. I also need to research the best airflow options for my case to determine how many fans I need/Where to put them. I don't think I'm going to use the window vents on my c70 case, So I'm going to order a window without the vents online I found for $10.

Any help with fan placement for my case would be greatly appreciated. I really appreciate everybodies help with this, mainly hometeam and jd for their constant replies to me in this thread.

Microcenter will have cheap case fans

hometeam 11-27-2013 04:44 PM

cheap on fans is relative, as even good fans can be had cheap.

I went with some dynamic fluid bearing fans for a recent build I did for a customer, I cant remember the brand but DAMN I was impressed with them, they where cheap, good airflow, and next to silent.

When I get home tonight Ill check the brand and pricing, and check out your case and help you figure out some airflow options. I tend to run a slight negative pressure, but have always though about switching to positive pressure. Negative pressure makes it so dust sneaks in every crevice of your case, but I have found lowers temps a few C

Instead of LED fans allow me to recommend cold cathode tubes. They really make the panties drop.

edit: crappy phone pic but this is what my system looks like with the cathode lights:
