I'm not going to lie. I had given them up for dead after his 2nd home run of the day.
It's never felt better to be as dead wrong as I possibly could have in my entire life.
Their win seriously took the edge off of what was a really shitty day otherwise. I'd go as far as to say it turned it around.
I know I've said after last year's postseason and this year's regular season, that anything in the playoffs was a bonus and icing on the cake. When they made their trade deadline moves it reignited the hunger to see them do some damage and make a little noise in October.
This series, if it had ended would have left a bad taste in my mouth because the 8th inning is pretty much the only time we've seen this team play their brand of baseball. Otherwise, 90% of the lineup looked flat. Game 1 was a good example. With Morales hitting 2 homeruns, a typical day with the Royals offense would dictate the Royals win that game at least 90% of the time.
For as shaky as the rotation has been, I would place at least just as much blame on a lineup of mostly cold bats in all 4 games up until today's 8th. Houston had been doing a better job of getting guys over and bringing them home which is not their MO.
I hope the outcome of today's game will be the catalyst to get everyone dialed in!
Now it's time to cash in on the Cueto trade and for him to step up and shut the Astros down!
