Yahoo Sports' Jason Cole reports that the Chiefs "appear to be the most interested team" in Alex Smith, and are "unlikely" to use the No. 1 overall draft pick on a quarterback.
It's becoming clearer and clearer by the day that Geno Smith won't be drafted first overall. "Several" head coaches and coordinators around the NFL wouldn't be surprised if the entire first round passed by without a quarterback selected. Cole also mentions the Cardinals as a potential Smith suitor, although they're trying to restructure Kevin Kolb's deal at the moment. Reid has the first pick of this year's draft, and while there's no quarterback worth taking at that spot there is a blueprint Reid will follow.

By coincidence, there is a guard -- Alabama's Chance Warmack -- who's a possible top pick. Of course, so is left tackle Luke Joeckel, and what the Chiefs do with free-agent-to-be Brandon Albert could determine where they go with the first choice. Offensive linemen begin their workouts Friday, but, in the meantime, Joeckel remains the early favorite to go numero uno.

In defense of Alex Smith, he'd have a better receiving corp in KC, a better running back, a lessor tight end and with any luck, a very similarly talented offensive line.
