Oh and I'm sure he will be if they don't trade or release him.

Bruce Arians is a guy that wants to FORCE the ball downfield, even when you shouldn't. Alex Smith would be a disaster in that offense, behind that line. |

They're not going to win shit w/ Smith at QB |

ESPN's Chris Mortensen on Alex Smith: "Not gonna be a lot of suitors for him ... Maybe a 4th-rounder gets it done": http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3119/alex-smith … |
The tops of his ears are lower than his eyes. That is just weird man.
|
Id trade a 4th. Smith and Smith would be a 100 percent upgrade at the starting and backup positions.

#Chiefs "appear to be the most interested team" in Alex Smith & are "unlikely" to draft a quarterback No. 1 overall: http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3119/alex-smith |
Thats really upsetting. Oh well.

Latest News
Recent News Yahoo Sports' Jason Cole reports that the Chiefs "appear to be the most interested team" in Alex Smith, and are "unlikely" to use the No. 1 overall draft pick on a quarterback. It's becoming clearer and clearer by the day that Geno Smith won't be drafted first overall. "Several" head coaches and coordinators around the NFL wouldn't be surprised if the entire first round passed by without a quarterback selected. Cole also mentions the Cardinals as a potential Smith suitor, although they're trying to restructure Kevin Kolb's deal at the moment. It's expected that Smith would cost no more than a fourth-round pick. Feb 22 - 9:37 PM |
Jason Cole is a pretty dialed in guy.
****. |
Jason Cole was the first to report Reid to KC too.
|
Yeah, thats disappointing.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/2...-with-top-pick Reid has the first pick of this year's draft, and while there's no quarterback worth taking at that spot there is a blueprint Reid will follow. "You don't want to force yourself into a position," he said. "You don't go for need. You go for who the best player is or who the best player is perceived to be. If the best player is a guard, you've got to take that guard. If you don't, that's where mistakes are made." By coincidence, there is a guard -- Alabama's Chance Warmack -- who's a possible top pick. Of course, so is left tackle Luke Joeckel, and what the Chiefs do with free-agent-to-be Brandon Albert could determine where they go with the first choice. Offensive linemen begin their workouts Friday, but, in the meantime, Joeckel remains the early favorite to go numero uno. |
Cole isn't saying anything about it on Twitter.
Just have to see how this one plays out. |
I can't wait till the 12th to get this shit over with.
|
I can't imagine they would have already made this decision before the combine and prodays, especially hearing Dorsey back track a little today on teh QB's but who knows.

If this is the way we go, we better damn well be a threat in the playoffs next year.
|
I have a hard time believing anyone is going to give a draft pick for Alex, considering teams had a chance to sign him as a free agent the previous year and he had zero suitors. Reid included

Either way, it's going to be pretty disappointing. |
Gonna be pissed if we get stuck with Alex Smith. Picking up retreads is our way!
|
God ****ing damnit.
If this shit goes down, we had better draft Wilson or Nassib or somebody in round 2. Cole is a good source. I don't want Alex ****ing Smith. **** |
if they draft that ****ing guard that makes me right about how awful Jeff Allen is and that really bums me out
|

I don't see them trading from him and drafting a guy. They could I guess, but I don't see it. I had actually somewhat talked myself into like Foles. I just can't get on board with Alex Smith. |
Oh god please no. I want Geno he's the best QB in this class and is a football nerd. Reid can coach him up
|
i also talked myself into the Foles scenario to completely try and brainwash myself that anything involving Alex Smith would NOT happen. Because I hate Alex Smith
|

We have to use that plan if this shit goes down. No ****ing excuses. |

Actually, yeah, sounds just about right. |
Quote:
how pathetic is that crap. Garbage. |
Quote:
Maybe they do go with Smith and see what happens in next years draft. But he better win now. |
SEE....Nick Foles isnt such a bad idea if it means avoiding Alex ****ing Cassel.

your best with Alex Smith is 10-6 with a first round playoff exit your worst with Alex Smith is 6-10 and another wasted season of the 7 good prime talents left on the team, probably another offseason where more of them walk for nothing it will probably end up being somewhere in the 8-8 range with Alex Smith great |
Evan Silva has been calling him to the Chiefs for a while, so......who knows.
|
Quote:
Bring him in and win 6 games? **** that. We could do that with a rookie who actually has upside. Maybe it's not right, but thats the standard. |
Quote:
so its a wishlist 1. Draft a QB 1 overall dont do that? okay 2. trade for Foles and draft a QB in the mid-later rounds dont do that? poop in mouth big gap 3. Alex Smith, Kevin Kolb, Some crap shit veteran QB that will get us nowhere. great |

Now imagine if we have to pay Alex Smith, too.
Cassel II: The Shittening |
Quote:
We'll give up a pick and have to pay him. **** me. They'll restructure Cassel too. |
If they don't plan to take a QB at 1, I'd say the Albert contract stuff is overblown, cause I don't have any idea who the hell they'll take.
|
So is the Andy Reid honeymoon period over yet? He was crap in Philly after McNabb left. He'll be crap here unless he can find something better than these names.

At least smith can get his team to conference title game

i think you mean the team got smith to the conference title game

 |
It's hard to believe Reid would hitch his wagon to Alex considering this franchise has already been down that road so many times. I really thought they would draft a QB at 1 and excite the fans with a guy we could groom. Alex Smith is the same old shat. Lets hope this is not accurate.
|
Yeah Smith's so good a 4th rounder will nab him?

What Smith wouldn't have in KC is a dominating front seven, unless some free agents were signed and Poe blows up. If it's between Foles and Alex Smith, I'll take Smith and a developmental QB, whether it's Manuel, Dysert, Bray or even Nassib. |
Quote:
If we do re up Bowe yeah, maybe a better wr core. Dunno about the OL, theirs is pretty ****ing good. I'd hope we could get there. This would jsut be really damn disappointing. Even more so if we pass on a QB who ends up being really ****ing good. If we went this route, pass on Geno or Barkley, they go to the Raiders and blow up, woudl be alot to stomach. |
8.5 million this pile of turd's contract is.
holy ****, they cant even just cut him because of that. sad |

I'm not going to get mad about this until it happens. I don't have the energy to think of another Cassel situation. If they went Alex Smith and no developmental guy I wouldn't know what to do.
|
So the absolute soonest the trade can happen is the 12th....?
|
We better not trade for Alex Smith. If we don't take a qb #1. I would trade for Flynn and draft Manuel
|
the saddest part is if there is any truth to this is that the 49ers have no leverage
the chiefs would be the only team interested there is no market for the ****ing shitty player so the chiefs can lowball and the 49ers would be in a position to either take it or leave but then keep Smith and his 8.5 million contract to sit the bench means the 49ers miss out on a starting #1 CB in FA. So they might just give him away to us, especially if we were the only team that called, which is sad. in perspective, at the time we traded for Matt Cassel, MATT CASSEL HAD A ****ING MARKET OF TEAMS INTERESTED AT LEAST. This time, its so bad that the ****ing turd is a turd and everybody should know that. |
I heard the Browns are open to trading Weeden or McCoy. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but if that's the case I could see them as a more logical spot for Smith, what with Norv and all.
|
I'm not going to get too worked up about it at this point.
For one thing, even though Cole is usually pretty "in the know" this makes no sense: "Several" head coaches and coordinators around the NFL wouldn't be surprised if the entire first round passed by without a quarterback selected. That's literally NEVER happened. Maybe once. There is less than zero chance that no QBs are taken in the 1st round. So either he's making shit up or somebody is feeding him a line of tasty bullshit. |
Hope not ugh.
|
Quote:
If the Browns are doing that, I'd say that puts Glennon in play for them. |

Hopefully this is like the McNabb in Washington situation
