We've been doing this stupid shit for 30 years. There is no correlation between having a great OT and winning Super Bowls. None of the recent Super Bowl teams have had fantastic OT play. The only common denominator among Super Bowl winning teams is great QB play. If you don't have a franchise QB, you aren't winning a Super Bowl.

If your management is too big of pussies to draft QBs in the first round, then you are never, ever winning a Super Bowl.

In my mind, this pick kind of neutralizes the Albert trade. If we get a good offer, trade him; if the offer is lukewarm, keep him for a year and then decide next year what to do with him. In other words, I think this selection allows some flexibility in handling Albert.
