Who pitches for the Cards if they don't score?

Buck 10-27-2011 10:25 PM

Jackson or Lohse need to pitch now.

THIS IS HOW A WORLD SERIES CLINCHING GAME IS SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYED!

KC_Connection 10-27-2011 10:26 PM

And that would be why you don't intentionally walk Pujols to face a guy who mashes righties like Berkman.

The Cards keep wasting these opportunities to win it outright, though. They don't have much of a pen left to speak of.

tk13 10-27-2011 10:26 PM

More free baseball!

You lucky squirrel loving morons have been down to your last strike, twice. This is ridiculous.

... Berkman came through in the clutch. Every manager in the league walks Pujols in that situation. Stop being stupid.

Win or lose, I'm getting a ****ing Berkman jersey. What a monster stud that guy is. :wayne:

Berkman has a .998 OPS vs. RHP in 2011 for a reason. He just showed what that reason is. Pujols, by comparison, has a .897 OPS in 2011.

Not to mention that the Rangers nearly lost the game because of that decision, putting the winning run on 1st.

VonneMarie 10-27-2011 10:28 PM

Pujols likely would have mashed a HR and won the game, so it was still the smart thing to walk him.

The only one being stupid was Ron Washington for putting the winning run on there and bringing up a guy that absolutely destroys RHP like Feldman.

Step off.

Frazod 10-27-2011 10:30 PM

I'd hate Napoli if I didn't respect him so much. What a baller.

Buck 10-27-2011 10:31 PM

Do they have anyone left on Texas' bench? They need to run for Napoli. I'm sure his ankle is swollen to shit by now.

No, Pujols hitting a HR was actually very unlikely considering he's only hit 37 of them in 650+ plate appearances. The odds of Berkman hitting one against a RHP are the same, if not better.

People need to get over this idea that intentional walks are a sound strategic decision. In almost every case, it hurts your chances of winning the game.

Dr. Johnny Fever 10-27-2011 10:34 PM

Estaban German... former Royal... inning over

HemiEd 10-27-2011 10:34 PM

That's the thing - I hated Philadelphia, and I hated Milwaukee. I don't hate Texas. I just want my team to win. It was the same in 2006 - staking the ****ing Mets was almost as good as winning it all.

Dr. Johnny Fever 10-27-2011 10:34 PM

There's a reason KC let German go and that's it.

Top of the line up next inning for Texas. This is where you want to end it.

Every time he hits, he makes my Jays look worse for dumping him for a garbage reliever like Frank Francisco.

But he's so awesome that you can't help but cheer for him.

I don't like Texas much better than StL. One of the most amazing pricks I've ever known is a Rangers fan (no not GoChiefs but close). But as a KC lover I can never root for StL. I have much respect for them though.
