Im trying to figure out how to get in the proam next year there. Friend if ours played Tuesday with Tom Watson at TOR and Wednesday at BR with Freddy. |
I went. Kind of a hard venue to actually watch golf though. Cool place though and one day I'm going to break down and pay to play it.

Finally broke 80 for the first time.
Three bogies, two doubles, a triple and three birdies. 11/18 GIR, 10/14 FIR. 30 putts. Was +4 through 16 and then went full reerun on 17, taking triple - and putting myself in a spot where I had to make par on the hardest hole on the course to shoot 79. Good drive, went deep with the approach, pitched to 6 feet and made the putt. Nothing like meeting your goal for the summer in May. Time to back it up now. |

I'm still trying to break 90 for only the second time ever. The first time was a long damn time ago. Unfortunately though, I usually struggle to break 100. I had my lowest round of the year a couple of weeks ago for a 97. I'm still struggling with my iron play. I took some lessons last year and made some swing changes that are taking some time to repeat consistently. I did recently upgrade my driver to a TaylorMade 2016 M2. I've never really struggled with my driver, but I can tell already that this one is longer and more forgiving than my old Burner driver. |

Three years ago, I was a 22 handicap who struggled to keep the ball in play off the tee. I've always been a bit of a club ho, so I was always buy/trade/selling to try things out. Stumbled ass-backwards into a set of Bridgestone J40 irons and two summers ago dropped my handicap from 22 to 12. Spent all last year floating between 12-15, then finally decided to spend the money to get properly fit for clubs. Dropped down to regular flex shafts in both woods and irons, and my game has been much more consistent - especially off the tee. TM M1 12* with the face ripped wide open. Looking forward to a great season - have an outside shot to play Southern Hills later this summer. |
Have you ever been on the forums at The Hackers Paradise?
https://www.thehackersparadise.com/forum/ I've mentioned it before, but there's tons of good golf talk going on there. A lot of great contests, events, give aways and equipment testing. I've been active there for a couple of years or more and really like it. I'm currently testing/reviewing the new Srixon Q-Star Tour balls. They sent me a free dozen and all I have to do is provide some feedback on them. They have a contest going on right now, winners to be announced tomorrow morning, where two people will win an all expenses paid trip to Budget Golf's warehouse in Chicago. Those two will have a competition where the winner will participate in a Supermarket Sweep type of deal where everything they can put in their shopping cart in 60 seconds is theirs to keep. Drivers, irons, wedges, putters, balls, shoes, bags, etc. are all in play. It's a pretty cool site. The have another event where 12 people will be selected for an all expenses paid trip to Carlsbad, CA to be custom fitted for a full bag of Callaway equipment and then play a Ryder Cup style tournament against Callway's marketing team. |

Currently 40 guys under par at the US Open. I grow tired of Mike Davis setups and the selections of these courses without any history to host a national championship.
"Hey, let's put 60 yard wide fairways in on a treeless golf course in an area that receives 3.5 inches of rain per month with average highs near 80, and little to no wind. What could go wrong?" Now, to be fair, the USGA and RA need to collaborate with the tour on rolling back the golf ball so that you don't need an 8,000 yard course, but I miss the days of thinner strips of graduated rough and tough, gnarly grass bordering the collar of the greens that ate up standard approach shots. |
It sucks watching them tear this thing up. It was never gonna be a good idea to go there.
I wish they'd get back to the traditional style golf course for the US Open. Tree lined big rough and slick greens |

Was happy to shoot 82 today, hit the ball pretty well for being an old man. Missed 4 birdie puts under 10 feet and made the 4 footer.
|
Dustin Johnson just put the ball 30 yards beyond the green on a 676 yard hole. In 2 shots.

Personally, I could care less what the final score is. And apparently the course is hard enough - the three best players in the world all missed the cut badly. |
