A "haul" could mean anything. Finnegan and Bubba could be considered a haul by some.

Yeah, that's why I think the deal was Finnegan & Starling. An outside media guy could easily see either of those players as "gutshot losses" for KC fans (Finnegan's postseason heroics, Starling's local ties).
