I actually winced when I read this. Is there a worse rotation in all of MLB?

No. Every single one of these guys is a fifth starter, but Hoch and Davies will flash #3 potential just enough to piss people off even more.

Deberg_1990 03-22-2011 03:02 PM

I like that Hoch gets the nod to start the season just because "Its time" ROFL

I doubt ever, hell some of those late '90s/early 2000's Royals rotations could give this one a run (ex. Scott Elarton as the opening day starter)

Mazzaro is penciled in as the 5th once one is needed. I think he has a little upside. If one of these guys really struggles, ok when, you'll probably some more O'Sullivan as well.

Going to my 2nd game tonight. Yesterday was rained out so I only get 2 games this year. Anyhow, here is what I saw Sunday against Texas:

Gordon 0-3 with 2 foul outs and a K
Butler stole a base on a gimem call but promptly hit into a DP when we needed runs
Soria waxed 4 straight
Betemit will never turn a DP because he cannot get the ball out of his glove
Mazarro looked average at best

Just about time to re-title this the "2011 Kansas City Royals Suppository Thread".

The starting rotation isn't very good... but at least most of these guys actually have pretty good stuff... that's definitely one thing that's definitely improved under DM, we're at least evaluating pitchers with decent stuff. We used to trot all these guys who couldn't pitch and threw junk. Jimmy Gobble, Chris George, Elarton... Redman. List goes on and on.

Sidney Ponson opening the new Kauffman still stings.

It's not like the rotation was ever great shakes before. Grienke had one obviously fantastic year, and Meche was mostly fine for a couple of seasons, but it's not like they really had anywhere to go but up to begin with. They've never been particularly good or even remotely deep. And with all the talk about hosmer and moustakas, the arms in the minors may be as good as the bats by the time everybody gets to KC.
