Then why not do that instead? Get a PS4 for $100 less? Why keep an old console?

Probably something to do with the dozens of games one likely has for said "old console."

No.

You have to rebuy them.

Fair enough.

It doesn't have anything to do with that.

I already paid for the PS3. I own it. It's an asset.

It doesn't matter if I'm trading in my PS3, my 360, an old PC, or anything else. That item has some monetary value, so the whole "give us your PS3 and we'll give you $100 credit" is nothing but sleight of hand. You're surrendering VALUE with the idea that you got a "deal" and you didn't.

What M$ needs to do is say "leave off the Kinect and we'll drop the price by $100" but they won't do that.

Look, I understand the whole console loyalty deal....but how exactly does this make MS look bad? People whined that the system cost $100 more....they are giving you a way to eliminate that price difference.

Desperation looks bad on everybody.

Where do you see desperation? Both consoles are selling EXTREMLY well. Ps4 has sold more, but then again its $100 cheaper and its been released in a lot more countries. I'm pretty sure Microsoft isn't sweating.

You do understand who you are talking to right? Playstation 4 could kill a puppy and still be the best thing to ever grace home entertainment to Aturnis.

I agree with all of this. There is only one scenario that I see where the customer would actually benefit...if they had a PS3 that was broken and not running. Even then, I am not sure what the market is for dead PS3's, considering that many folks could restore with a new hard drive or blu-ray drive.

Both consoles seem to be doing well, and I do not think either one is leaving the video game market anytime soon.

This is where I'm at.

My PS3 is still dead with the YLOD and I just don't see enough titles yet to make the PS4 jump.

I'm wondering if it's worth the $150 to restore my PS3 (plays 1, 2, and 3 games) and enjoy it for about another year or if the PS4 plans on shipping enough new titles in that time to convince me to let the 3 RIP and move on...

That's exactly the reason I'm waiting. There isn't anything on either console that is that interesting that I have to get one now. Plus, throw in the 15+ games I have for the PS3 that I never played and some older games I never played on the 360 & i'm set for awhile.

Whats the difference between a PS4 owner and a vegan?

Nothing.

:)

If your PS3 is one of the earlier ones that plays playstation 2 games, I would. The ones that can play ps2 games seemed to have more resale value to them (at least from looking on ebay).

Yup.

1, 2, and 3. I still play about 4 PS1 games (or did) and can't complain other than it being super ****ing loud once the fan kicks on...
