I think we're dogging FAU too much. Let's let the third year play out.
Every time FAU has played without Chris Jones on the field, he's flashed. He's just a very specific weapon up to this point and for some reason it doesn't agree with Jones' playstyle to improvise where he wants to line up. When things are more set and predictable, FAU flashes. |
I've come around on this pick. We were picking 31st, as usual, and getting a franchise LT is just a statistical improbability. Might as well take a huge swing. If he fails, they're out a pick but as we saw with CEH and others, that hasn't really hampered the team from competing for championships.
If he pans out, however, the return will be well worth the opportunity cost. Given where the Chiefs pick every year, this might have been the best use of said pick, not the worst. |

Yeah, the worst case scenario is that he's Kingsley in year 1. Even with all of the issues we had at LT, we made it to the Super Bowl. The downside to this pick just isn't that "down".
This is the kind of gamble you have to take when you're in the position the Chiefs are in. |

Some very smart people have been saying that for quite awhile now. The thing with FAU is he hasn’t seen the field. When he has, he’s made some good plays. It could be that all he’s good for is coming in rotationally to get a TFL here or there, which is why he’s been buried on the depth chart, but we’ve seen cases like this before of good DEs not doing anything until year 3 and beyond. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a big year for him, and he needs to turn the corner, but if there’s any position where that’s possible, it’s DE |

If Simmons bombs this could still be a good class. I think without Simmons you’re gonna see ONM, Williams, Royals and Smith at minimum make a positive impact this year. |
