Varys probably.

Could have been her.

I love her, as a character. (and actor) She also said something like, "As if men need another reason to fear marriage."

Yep, Diana Rigg better known as Emma Peel from The Avengers (BBC tv show).

i think so too

So, who takes the blame?

Buck 04-13-2014 09:17 PM

I'm guessing Tyrion is going to be blamed. He already was.

I feel like whoever felt like they had to do this at the wedding may not have had regular access to Joffrey otherwise, so I think that rules out his closest family.

KC_Connection 04-13-2014 09:18 PM

Well that was unexpected. I figured it was coming this season, but in the 2nd episode? Wow.

Tyrion's clearly going to catch the blame (and he may need his father/Jaime's help to get out of it somehow), but if I had to guess at who did it, it would be Tywin. Joffrey was too much of a loose cannon for him to control and he's all about maintaining his family's legacy. Such a risk for him to take, yes, but maybe he felt it was necessary with that kid.

Fishpicker 04-13-2014 09:23 PM

yeah, that and Tywin gets along well with Olenna Tyrell.

KC_Connection 04-13-2014 09:23 PM

Wouldn't be surprised if Olenna Tyrell was in on it too, although I don't know what she would really gain from it (beyond getting Margaery out of harm's way). Could have made a deal with Tywin, though?

Poison doesn't seem like it would be Oberyn's style (and his revenge is also more directed Tywin's way for how he sacked King's Landing).

Ahh but doing it public with lots of other people who may not like Joffery muddies the waters a whole lot. Where as doing it in private does not.

I think whoever did it was trying to make it look like he choked, not poisoned. But Cersei immediately saw through it.

Usually blood doesn't come flowing out of your nose when you choke to death. Not to mention Joffery's cheeks turned red like a rash rather then the pale blue you would expect from lack of oxygen.

Agreed. Doesn't mean whoever did it didn't want it to look accidental, though.

Great point.

Tywin does not like Tyrion
