Spags doesn't need to start him to find out what he has. He drafted him, he sees him every day in practice.

Just be honest, you want Spags to start him so YOU can find out what they have. You're impatient and you don't trust Spags.

FAU may very well be a bust, but I trust Spags to handle him correctly.

If Simmons bombs this could still be a good class. I think without Simmons you’re gonna see ONM, Williams, Royals and Smith at minimum make a positive impact this year.

It's not so much a risk as it is just acknowledging the history of the injury he suffered. He's got a long, uphill battle ahead of him and if he fails, it really doesn't matter. This team is going to be very, very good without him.

I've come to accept that this move is pretty much all upside. It's like a scratch off ticket - losing the $2 you paid for it isn't a big deal but winning $25K is.

For sure.

Kingsley was a developmental pick. Simmons is not that, at all. He's a polished blocker. He just got hurt. That's it, that's all there is.

He would have been a top 15 pick for sure without it.

Since we're kind of just talking about random things things in here where do you all stand on chili? I personally don't like chili with beans.

I don’t mind it either way. Beans or no beans will not ruin it for me.

People get too fixated on the dumbest shit when it comes to food. Food opinions are very subjective, just do you.

When the guy can't get off the ball with urgency and can't disengage from blocks, you find out that you have a turd. Maybe, one day, he'll at least learn to do the latter.

I hate when people mix chili with rice. Kidney beans are a staple IMHO.

So Kingsley could still develop is what you're saying?

Did Rick Burkholder also sign off on DJ Humphries last season?

He surely did, but then again DJ was a castoff vet rushed in at the last minute

We really kinda did him wrong IMO, but I bet we don't make that same mistake with Simmons... he's getting kid gloves to any extent necessary

Humphries was injured again, a separate injury to his hamstring that had nothing to do with the ACL, after he was rushed out their due to Morris being a dumpster fire at the worst time.

That had absolutely nothing to do with Burkholder's assessment of Humphries ACL recovery.

Not to mention how risk/reward is weighed here. Humphries was a middle of the season signing. A cheap prayer. They invested a 1st round pick in Simmons. Completely different.

I don't know what point you think you were making with this, but it was dumb.

RealSNR 05-12-2025 06:51 PM

I’ll never understand how fans can be pissy with Rick Burkholder.

Would you rather have the Chargers staff?

Fkn awesome. I hate running!

Not to mention Andy is a bit adverse to running the ball sometimes. Could be a match made in heaven.

I am still very worried about this pick due to that injury. Maybe we will beat those odds.

xztop123 05-12-2025 10:52 PM

Every tape I watch on Simmons he looks like a monster run blocker. He’s blocking two diff guys at diff levels on some plays. Ohio state was a primarily running team , no?

kcbubb 05-12-2025 11:01 PM

Simmons has the potential to be an all pro. The injury is the concern for me. He fits this offense.
