It's not rocket science - I just have access to things you don't.

I usually start with figuring out names through some combination of email address, the user profile field, and anything they've said online.

Then comes location, which can be roughly determined from IP addresses with a little legwork. Sometimes profile fields or things they say on CP.

Occasionally, I'll Google unique usernames to find them on other forums. That's how I hunted down all sorts of stuff on Ubeja (though that used his email - not username).

From there, it's a matter of searching social media, public records, and Googling with the word "obituary" to see where things stand.

I did a Google search for "John the milkman in California" since that's all I know about him...nothing.

I think he lived in Oklahoma.

IIRC he either joined or was already a member of a KU-centric board, and after he left here took his I-hate-everything-especially-Missouri act there.

He mailed me some DTV stuff I needed to wire my house about 20 years ago. It was mailed from Tulsa, and his name was Mike Scimeca (or something phonetically similar).

His first name was Mike but I don't know his last name.
