I've seen some potential there for more.

He's a defender.
May be true, but I think it's tough to label somebody like him as that so soon.

If you need a consistent 8-12 ppg -- like this team will need with all the young players figuring things out on the fly -- you go with Morningstar, not Releford.
Which is why I said "as long as he continues to shoot like this, he should get the minutes."

I will say this yet again (just different thread).

Cole cant pass the ball too himself. In that game he had 4 touches... your gonna blame that on him. FYI... he did, said he could of gotten more offensive rebounds. Thats class. Rather then toss the guards under the bus and say they didnt feed him.

Great post noob!

OK, so when he starts getting exposed on defense on one-on-one situations -- like you say he will -- his 12 ppg will be deemed more important, so he should still get minutes?

Depends what the coach thinks matters more to the team's success-the additional offense that comes from Morningstar or having a weakness on defense. I don't get paid to make those tough decisions.

Thank heavens.

If I was coach, I'd go with what I thought the team needed most, and I think they need that spacing he gives them more than anything at this point.

I'm going to give HCBS the benefit of the doubt until he misses the tournament.

This team reminds me so much of the Chalmers/Wright/Rush class. Self played some upper classmen that I thought shouldn't be playing while some of the freshman or, guys who I personally thought were better players, sat on the bench.

I'm not a Morningstar fan. I believe there is better talent behind him. I will give him props for his game yesterday, because he did look good. But, as the players behind him develop their game I believe you will start to see Morningstar's minutes go down.

Just because I don't understand why he is playing so much, doesn't mean he shouldn't be. I don't know what's going on in practice with the players behind him. In the long run, I trust Self knows what he is doing and I'm ok with it.

I see this as a development year. We have lots of solid players, and minus Aldrich/Collins, we don't have that 3rd scoring option yet. Develop the the players this year, bring in the talent next year/year after and we are right in the National Championship talk again.

PS. That is not meant as an insult to the current team. I could see a few of them becoming really good to great players. Again, if Morninstar plays the way he did yesterday, you won't hear any complaints out of me. Well, other than me losing my hair, but that doesn't really matter to KU basketball.

Self is making the same decision I would.
