LMAO Yeah. Clutch as shit, dawg.

2008: Next week against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Raiders won 23-8. Russell passed for only 55 yards and completed 6-of-17 passes with no touchdowns

2009: Following a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on November 15, Russell was benched indefinitely by coach Tom Cable due to mediocre play in favor of Bruce Gradkowski.

It just seems that the team is gelling nicely and is becoming more and more comfortable with each other. There are no attitude problems or friggin' head cases. This bodes well for the boys in Red and Gold. As far as Cassel...he definitely plays with "child-like" enthusiasm...and part of me really likes that. It's Favre-ish. Shit, Brett still runs around and lifts guys up after a big play. Not everyone is a cyborg like Manning.

Matt's human. He's a serviceable to good quarterback. And right now, he's all we've got. I honestly think we could do much much worse.

GO GO GADGET MATT!!!

I'm betting that Cassel will be playing for us next season. The bigger question in my mind is whether or not the Chiefs will make a serious play for a QBoT(possibly near)F to bring along behind him.

Going in he tells the offense they have 4 downs. That hasn't worked out well but it has to give tremendous confidence to the offense and at the same time takes some stress off.

"Relax, this play doesn't have to be THE play. I got your back. We need 4 downs we'll play 4 downs..."

That's got to be a huge boulder off the shoulders of the QB knowing that you don't have to force a single play. We'll take 4 if we need four. Calm down and execute...

How can you say it hasn't worked out well? The Chiefs have been successful 60% of the time on 4th down and there's no telling how often they've picked up a first down by playing differently (both play calling and the relax factor that you point out) on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down because they know that they're going to go for it on 4th if necessary.

It's easy to notice the times they fail on 4th down, particularly if you assume a FG is a guarantee even on an extremely windy day, but you've got to recognize that there are a lot of less obvious factors that need to be taken into account before making a balanced judgment.

One can only hope.

That was my first thought too. I mean ****; we're a civilized fan base, but we eat our own when necessary. If ANYONE who calls themselves a football fan can honestly defend Russell, they are either beyond idiotic or a complete dupe.

You guys need to watch this weeks Inside the NFL on showtime. It shows the game against Buffalo with additional audio & video that wasn't on that clip. You'll be a lot less impressed with Cassell. Haley bitches him out several times for underthrowing receivers and holding onto the ball. At the end when Cassell makes a throw on 3rd down out of the shotgun Haley hears the play call going in and says, "Ohhh I'm really scared about a negative play here - please be wrong Todd"

Overall it shows the coaching staffs opinion of Cassell and it's obvious they have no confidence in him.

Interesting. I wish I'd seen that.

I think.

Maybe not.

Mostly due to the fact there are a number of times he's gone for it and it's taken pts off the board and it's made the game much more difficult to win.

**** it; sounds like good news to me. It's a testament to Haley and Weis that we're getting what we're getting out of him at all.
