Also the beginning of the film where ED-209 shoots the little kid for holding a knife for two seconds is so stupid.

Completely unrealistic, even given the movie's techno-fantasy nature.

Also, this. Nice try you ****ing idiots.

The political resonances of the remake, by contrast—a half-hearted bid to achieve topicality by connecting the story to U.S. use of drones—is self-evidently contrived.

(The fact that drones aren’t robots and robots aren’t drones is a problem the film barely even tries to paper over.)

This remake is terrible.

That's because it brings nothing really fresh to the story. It's the same tale, albeit watered down and not as viscerally satisfying, with a bunch of hamfisted Republican bashing. Whee!

The original RoboCop was a classic revenge film with a hero you wanted to root for.

This new shit was a hollow imitation. Sure looked cool, though!

The original was rife with political and social commentary. It was just made up to look like a classic revenge film.

Sure. It was still executed incredibly well.

The remake is trash.

This is the perfect review for this piece of shit.

"...A HUGE, HOT, HEAPING PILE OF HORSE SHIT!"

Jk. The story is weak and their wasn't as much action as you would hope, but it's worth a look if you don't have anything better to do.

It's worth seeing if you enjoyed the original RoboCop.

To kind of see how they can take an awesome movie and completely butcher the concept.

A true RoboCop remake cannot exist in this world.

I suppose that's a good thing.

I've never seen the original.

People thought this was going to be good?

lawrenceRaider 07-26-2014 06:19 PM

I went into watching it think it would be terrible, but I had time to kill and figured why not. While the start of the movie was pretty terrible, I really enjoyed the actual bits involving Robocop. Overall maybe a 5.5 on a scale of ten, and I'm not sad I saw it.
