It is always" wow Alex looks sharp", " Alex is teaching others the play book", Alex taking command of the Offense" etc. Then Come Sept..............Offense starts off slow, relies of Def and SP.
I don't see Alex Smith doing much more than his 175-200 yards passing, and little ovr 1 TD a game. The less the Niners asked of him the better he played.

Wrong. Alex Smith played great in weeks one and two last year. Week one at green bay, and two at home on sunday night football vs the lions. He played GREAT in both of those games. So sit down, and shut up. Your lies wont be tolerated.

Either way, I get whatever I want, and you get to dictate nothing.

Negged.

Pretty much the way I figure it anyways. If he does well, ie the team is winning, babies will cry and say that the rest of the team is carrying him. Which, is pretty much typical.

If he's doing well, it MEANS that the team is carying him.

lol, if you say so. I like the fact that Alex Smith has no ego when it comes down to checking to a run, or throwing a pass to a guy short and giving him a chance to make a play. That's just me. Shrugs. The big play is nice, but keeping the other offense off the field, is just as nice. Especially when you have as good of pass rushers as you guys do, the more time their offense has to spend trying to hurry up and score, the better off you will be.

Just my line of thinking.

Those things are great... as long as he can flip the switch and try to make tougher throws on 3rd down.

Flipping the ball short to a guy - the checkdown pass - has its place. But on third down? All it really leads to is a team that punts. A lot.

That's fine if you have a truly elite defense. It's unlikely Alex Smith will have such a luxury in his time in KC.

We wont know that until the season starts. No one thought the 49ers defense heading into 2011 was going to be elite either.

I agree, he has to pick up the 3rd downs, agreed completely. He also has to feel free to take some chances, and give guys a chance to make a play.....

Agreed on all of the above.
