Holy Christ, how dreadfully incorrect.

In 4 of those 8 games, the defense gave up a COMBINED 12 points.

In the 2 losses, the offense mustered a COMBINED 16 points. Against the 16th and 31st ranked defenses in the league.

Average yards passing in those eight games?

200.4 yards.

Average yards rushing in those eight games?

168.6 yards

Alex Smith didn't "lead" ****.

His running game and defense did.

a****ingmen

We didn't have shit for FAs that first year. Your argument is stupid.

Sadly, we already know that Alex Smith is.

I wonder if 49er fans said the same thing about Steve Young when the 49ers traded a second rounder to Tampa Bay for him after a couple of unimpressive seasons...

I think if he's mediocre or worse, Reid and Dorsey will at least start window shopping for QBs after this season.

I'm not giving him a chance because thinking we will do shit with him at QB is ignorant of history. You win Super Bowls by drafting your own guy and developing him into a franchise QB that can win post season games for you with his arm. That's the only blue print for winning Super Bowls. For the last 30 years the Chiefs have refused to draft and develop their own QBs. All the Chiefs do is trade for QBs other teams are willing to give up, and no team is willing to give up a franchise QB. At best a QB like Alex Smith gets you to the playoffs, where he loses to a team with one of the few elite QBs in the NFL.

We're going no where until we start drafting our own QBs and making them our starters. We have to keep doing this until we find the next Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady. Just keep doing it. It may take us a decade to find our guy, but when we do, we're set for a while. The longer we put it off, the farther away we are from winning another Super Bowl.

Well, we've seen this movie before and know how it ends. Some of us wanted a glimmer of hope at QB but instead we get ASs.

In the next theater over, the movie where a team drafts a 1st round QB who busts is playing over and over.

Hope is available to you if you want to embrace it.

I wanted Geno as the next guy but he's as uncertain at this point as Alex.

We gave up too much for him. That sucks.

Geno Smith is 100x MORE uncertain than Alex Smith. And that's exactly why we all wanted him.

Alex Smith has been above average for exactly half a season.

See, this is why people telling me to have "hope" is comical.

People want us "crybabies" to ignore 7 years of Alex Smith's career in favor of half a season.....half a season in which he was very mediocre and eventually got benched.

That's insane.

You want him to say the QB is up for grabs? SP use to always say every spot is an open competition. Guess that was a lie. I would absolutely hope the QB they possibility are giving up two twos for is the unquestioned starter right now.

Yeah, i guess the coaching staffs in SF had a lot of success with Alex. Must be the reason they're still there, right.

WTF? Who here wanted to get rid of Rich Gannon. You have your history all ****ed up man.

Red Dawg 03-13-2013 05:35 PM

Some of you are really just plain idiotic. They have done nothing.but make this team better but you guys are still crying about the trade and Geno. We have an all world coaching staff that will win a lot more than they lose.

Pioli cut Pollard which wasn't a huge deal, but he was clearly a starter-quality player for whom we got nothing. A bigger example of the difference between now and then was his Tony Gonzalez trade. Pioli was shedding our better players while Reid/Dorsey are retaining them.

It's a different approach because the beginning of the Reid/Dorsey regime isn't really that similar to the beginning of the Pioli regime.
