I would be hard pressed to take the over on that bet.

I really hope not.

Props for keeping Jakeenan Gant and Namon Wright, I guess.

But other than that? Where's the good news?

Let's look at signed recruits since he took over:

Gant and Wright (Haith/Fuller guys who stayed because Fuller stayed and because their options had dried up at that point)

Gill-Caesar - Great get, but now gone
Tremaine Isabell - available because he's a shithead, though he has some talent. Stuck around.
DeAngelo Allen - available because of questionable grades. Might be a decent energy guy/role player.

Cullen VanLeer - 6-3, small-town white kid who can shoot but who is unlikely to ever be able to create his own shot or defend well enough to be played a ton of minutes without hiding him in a zone or something like that.

Kevin Puryear - Similar to DeAngelo Allen... undersized face-up 4 who could be a good role player but is a longshot to be a quality starter at the D1, P5 level.

Russ Woods - Unheralded JUCO who MIGHT not be as bad as Ryan Rosburg

Martavian payne - Unheralded JUCO combo guard who can score a bit but who is not an instant-impact type. Also plays a very deep position.

Brandon Phillips - Tiny, pass-first PG who can't shoot and was lightly recruited despite playing at a huge hoops power and therefore having a LOT of eyes on him.

KJ Walton - another academic questions guy who was available because of that. Sounds like he could be a JT Tiller type with slightly better offensive skills off the bounce (but the same shooting deficiencies).

Maybe.

It's pretty ****ing hard for a basketball team to not fall into at least 10 (direct quote from a former D1 player).

We did make Michael Porter Jr's top 10 list...hooray!

Jerm 08-06-2015 12:19 PM

KU on it too....just got this bad feeling he's going there...

Stargazer 08-06-2015 12:28 PM

I hear he will probably go to Duke and who can blame him?

Today's "this is an obvious shit show" news:

Missouri is bringing in a new 2016 kid for an official visit. Who averaged 7 MPG (that's minutes, not points) for his AAU team. His best previous offers were Abilene Christian and Abilene Tech. Prior to this offer, he no profiles on any of the recruiting websites.

Apparently "recruiting smarter" means going after guys that nobody else wants. Good way to make sure you don't lose recruiting battles!

What a disaster

Kermit is the smartest guy in the room. Don't second-guess him.

Missouri scrimmaged with Creighton over the weekend. It did not go well.

Creighton reportedly dominated the entire scrimmage, winning by 30+ points and outscoring Mizzou by 22 in the second half of the scrimmage.

Just reminding everyone what a shit show this is.

Right down to hiring Turner Gill... A super nice, good Christian man who is all about building the program through character and who is completely in over his head as a D1 head coach.

Maybe Liberty college will need a hoops coach when Kim is inevitably canned.

Glad we didn't hire that guy. Dodged a bullet.
