Did anyone see Alex Smith finally drop a ball into the bucket?

If he can just do that once or twice a game it will make a huge difference in our offense.

You were watching a very different game than me. He can't do much else but rush the passer. He's a complete non-factor in run support and pass coverage. And when you can't even show flashes in that one thing you're good at, that's an "uh oh" moment.

The tape disagrees with you. I've been completely honest with Ford so far and he looked like trash vs the run last week.
He looked good vs the run this week. He actually looked physical.

His pass rush wasn't able to be used much due to quick passes, but on this attempt he looked just like last year. Not good.
Poe and Jones both beat the OL and got in the QB's face though. That was awesome.

That's pass rush wasn't necessarily on ford, the play fake had him wanting to squeeze the gap, which is what he's supposed to do. That's more on the coverage guy getting beat.

O.city 08-21-2016 04:31 PM

And I was encouraged watching ford against the run yesterday. Looked more physical.

Good point O.

95% of our bad plays on defense were from rookies. DJ White bad coverage on Britt, March giving up the gap on the long run, Murray taking a bad angle on Gurley to the outside then the pick play with Murray.

Parker had a bad PI but there wasn't much else from the vets in terms of bad plays.

That's all great til you realize all these rookies are gonna habe to be playing alot of snaps.

Still want to trade or drop Berry?

The throw to Conley down the sideline?

Might be his best throw as a Chief.

Based on what I saw I think he has just relied on his natural strength based on his "rag doll" performance last night. And if that's the case it will be very easy to increase his strength by a large margin in a short amount of time.

I didn't even read this response, there is no ****ing way any player is gaining 35-45% more strength DURING a single season.

No
****ing
Way.

Exactly the case.

I don't have a problem playing rookies either, it's a necessity. It's just gonna take a bit for them to settle in.

His TD pass to Maclin vs the Bills was pretty nice.

The only rookies who will be playing a lot IMO will be Jones, Hill and Ehinger.

Berry will play in Murray's spot (plus they like Sorenson in that role as well), Gaines will play #2 CB with Nelson behind him and maybe even Cooper playing some (he's looked a lot better this preseason) and Mauga will most likely play next to DJ.

O.city 08-21-2016 04:59 PM

I hope those guys play well (Mauga, berry, Nelson etc) but some of those rookies are gonna have to play at some point.

Even guys like Nelson and gaines have alot to prove
