Corey Crawford is like the Trent Dilfer of the NHL.

I have no clue how he has his name on the cup twice, and its about to be a third.

If chickago wins he's the Conn Smythe winner.

Another gift for Chicago. Broken stick for Tampa leads to the backbreaking goal.

Hawks!!!!!!!! BABY!!!!

The Cup returning to ChiTown!

OnTheWarpath15 06-15-2015 08:44 PM

Kinda wish that tornado had hit Chicago.

Bearcat 06-15-2015 08:44 PM

Did they just say the Cup isn't in the arena yet?

First Cup win at home since the 30s.... with no Cup. LMAO

Funny how that is the first penalty against Chicago all night.

I'll gove Toews and Kane credit. I've never seen two players carry a franchise for a half decade like those two have.

CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!

Bearcat 06-15-2015 08:56 PM

I think it's safe to say the Lightning are all grown up, but Chicago is just too good & experienced. Great series.

ONLY 3 AND HALF MONTHS UNTIL HOCKEY!

DaFace 06-15-2015 08:59 PM

You may not like the Hawks, but you sure have to respect them. Those guys just plain know how to win when it counts.

Two teams beat the shit out of each other and then can walk down, shake each others hands, and hug. Great sport.

Anyong Bluth 06-16-2015 06:22 AM

Winning the Cup is bittersweet this time. Selfishly, I want more playoff hockey !

When they won their 1st time, the players were down the street from my old place, at a bar called Pony, secretly celebrating with the cup all night long.

One of my friends got invited. She called me at around 9am.

I got to sneak in and have a beer with everyone still celebrating before the bar actually opened. Then it was basically taken on a pub crawl from bar to bar all over the city

The presentation of the Cup makes all the other sports championship "celebrations" look like amateurs.

Same thing goes for the sportsmanship. Guys will go at it viciously ON the ice, but after the game much more mature.
Even in the interviews and such- just a lot more respect and humility by comparison to other sports.

Predarat 06-16-2015 06:43 AM

Well shit for the Preds, two multiple overtimes but losses, big leads pissed away, chasing starting goalies twice but managing to lose. Had the champs on the mat but could not capitalize. Draft and Free Agent Frenzy coming up.

scho63 06-16-2015 10:52 AM

I've been a Blackhawk fan as long as I've been a Pirates, Chiefs, and Wizards fan and it was great to watch. I was so close to going to Chicago to watch in person and scalp a ticket but the airfare was crazy and the ticket prices were at least $2000 for something to sit it! I'm no Dane McCloud !

The "rat" deserves every bit of it. He's a horrible commissioner who's allowed 2 work stoppages on his watch while squandering every opportunity to get the NHL's popularity past the PGA, NASCAR or the WNBA.

Bettman's a bane to the NHL.

It seems like a headache. I think they're not leaving Glendale, there could be a chance they relocate to Phoenix, and if they go anywhere, it'll be Quebec City or Vegas before they move to KC.

It's just so dumb. The arena is in the middle of nowhere. Coyotes get a nice deal from Glendale under old govt. regime(while seriously ****ing over Glendale residents) and then new govt. regime decides that it's dumb to agree to that lease(which it is).

Gadzooks 06-17-2015 11:32 PM

If the NHL ventures into Las Vegas, Bettman only takes one step closer to proving he's the worst commissioner that's ever existed..

Quebec 'Nordiques', Kansas City 'Scouts', Hamilton 'Hamsters' are all better than the Vegas 'Heat Scores' or the Vegas 'Lip Sores'.

Though it's not 100% clear, I think that's straight to 3v3 rather than after five minutes of 4v4. Regardless, it'll be interesting to see how this turns out. Should be fun regardless.

It's 5 minutes of 3v3 sudden death, then a shoot out.

NHLPA wanted no part of other proposal. It was all 3v3 or stay the way it is.

Now, if they would just get rid of the loser point...

I'm a fan of all games being worth 3, personally, but regardless I agree that something needs to change. Games being worth different numbers of points in different situations is stupid.

Predarat 06-24-2015 07:03 AM

I kind of liked the idea of 4 on 4 then 3 on 3, but sounds like they could not work that out. That would help avoid shootouts, I like shootouts to a point but when they happen so often they lose their appeal.

I think that 5 minutes of 3v3 is going to drastically reduce the number of shootouts.

Going to be odd man rushes up and down the ice. Too much room.

As a Blues fan, I'm drooling thinking of Tarasenko, Schwartz and Shattenkirk playing 3v3. Should be fun to watch.

Bearcat 06-24-2015 08:19 AM

Guess it's not as gimmicky as the shootout, and it should be fun to watch. Sometimes I like the current point system, just because it adds to the perfect level of parity and it makes it really difficult to make up for a slow start or a big slump.... OTOH, it's really difficult. I might redo the standings sometime in the 3 point win format or 0 points for OT losses to see what it would do.

4 on 4 is interesting to watch, but 3 on 3 is exciting as hell.

It may be almost too easy to score if they go straight to 3 on 3. If so, they should at least play the entire 5.

Predarat 06-24-2015 11:36 AM

I'd love to see 5 min of 4 on 4 then 5 min of 3 on 3, I guess the players association figures more play, more pay, plus more chance of injury and more time ect.

Pasta Little Brioni 06-24-2015 11:39 AM

I've seen a few examples over the years. Generally, things don't change much, but every once in a while you do end up with a team that didn't make it because of loser points and another that did.

That said, the issue to me is less about the impact on the standings and more about the impact on how teams play the last 5 minutes of the 3rd period in close games. I really hate situations where both teams have an incentive to let up at the end.

EDIT:

Here's an analysis based on the 2014 season.

And then when the playoffs roll around they'll ****ing turtle up, shy away from contact and see if they can win it in the shootout.

Yes, I know there is no shootout in the playoffs. I'm not convinced the !@#$ing Blues do.

I absolutely despise that pack of one who sucks the peniss right now, if you hadn't picked up on that. Blow up the whole goddamn organization. I just do not care.

Yeah, and I guess 3 on 3 might help with the end of regulation.

JFC. Hell, just play them 6 times to open the season and get it over with.

Anyong Bluth 06-24-2015 03:49 PM

Here's your "modified shootout".

5 minute overtime starts with 4 on 4. Each minute, both teams have to remove a player.

5 - 4 on 4
4 - 3 on 3
3 - 2 on 2
2 - 1 on 1
1 - goalies duke it out.

I actually like the idea if there were a good way of removing a player without stopping. Not sure how that could happen though.

Guys come off for line changes already - give them a 5 second grace period and if they violate it make it a 1 minute penalty and drop the puck at center ice.
