I hope they sell these to everybody, not just Korean War veterans. If they do, I'll buy a whole crate full if they're $220 each.

Civilian Marksmanship Program. Promotes club shooting and such. Also sells surplus M1s, M1 Carbines (when they have them) and other odds and ends.

Rack grade (lowest grade) M1 Garand is $595 + $25 shipping

Washington has agreed to allow the importation of M1 Garand rifles from Seoul, reversing its earlier decision to ban the shipping of the weapon used by South Korean and U.S. soldiers during the 1950-53 Korean War, a senior defense official said Wednesday.

“The U.S. government approved the imports of some 86,000 of the rifles,” said Lee Sun-chul, deputy defense minister for force and resources management.

They currently sell for around $220, according to another defense ministry official.

It's not a gun, it's a piece of history....at least that is what I told Trndowife.

Looks like there's a few hoops to jump through first - like joining an affiliated club. However, I found one in the next town over. Membership dues are $280 per year, but it looks like they have rifle and pistol ranges, and they're not an hour and a half away like the nearest public range.

Find out how far a drive it is to the North store. If its doable in Ohio? Make the drive & hand pick your own rifle. They have throat & muzzle gauges at the store for use out on the floor. Always remember this guys. Do not shoot modern 30/06 ammo out of a M1 Garand EVER!
It can be done but first you need to change out the gas block to an adjustable.
Greek M1 ammo is dirt cheap
