Channel 5 Off The Bench--Pioli's got to go
|
Nothing of substance on Pioli...more of tire kickers and coaching speculation.
For example, Ferentz is not a top tier option. Two big name candidates have already told people that they wont go to KC if Pioli is there. Clark better realize real quick that good talent wont come here and a segment of fans will walk away if he doesn't make the right decision. Quote:

Who are the two coaches?

Billick and Reid.

I'm feeling pretty high strung right now. Tomorrow is a biiiiig day. I already plan on getting drunk tomorrow. But I hope it's out of celebration, and not anger/depression.

Peter King tweeted earlier today that he doesn't think Josh McDaniels will leave New England: Peter King@SI_PeterKing I'll be very surprised if Josh McDaniels leaves New England this postseason. If you cross off Ferentz and McDaniels (both would by shitty options anyway), what other realistic HC candidate would Fat Scott be able to attract to KC? The list would be very small, and full of shitty options. If Clark doesn't want to consider the fan response to keeping Fat Scott, just look at the reality of trying to hire a HC to replace Romeo if Fat Scott is retained. It would be virtually impossible to hire a decent HC. |
agree. You have to have a coach willing to do it for no security. Maybe Chris Ault from the University of Nevada? He just resigned and is a top offensive mind. Maybe he'll gamble a little??

Who contacted them about the HC position if it wasn't Pioli? I can't imagine Clark Hunt has been calling up head coaching candidates...has Polian already even hired?...that wouldn't really make sense, either. |

So, Andy Reid (who just got fired hours ago) has already been contacted by Clark Hunt and told Clark he wouldn't take the job with Pioli there?...so before Clark has fired Pioli he has contacted head coaches himself?
Seems odd. |

this is the Peyton Manning snubs the Chiefs all over again because Pioli is around but with head coaches this time
Clark wants x or y. Clark who is usually hands off, tries to contact coaches x or y, and gets the run around or snub because Clark, still associates with Pioli, who everyone outside of the 95 Browns/Tom Brady high brow club, clearly hates, apparently good big name NFL players and coaches have the same view about this guy that handcuffs this team from truly ever being any good. |
Sleeping tonight is going to be difficult.
But one thing is for sure. 1 GM off the street could win more than 2 games. |
I cant sleep i just wanna know

Since we're all posting bullshit rumors we're hearing, I just heard one. It is a friend of a friend, so take it with a grain of salt.
My friend knows a guy who works in the law office that handles all of the Chiefs contracts. This guy says he knew when Carl was fired, and when Pioli was hired. He said Pioli is out the door. Gone. Fired. The deal is done. |
Sure hope you're right Mr Flopnuts.

I think Clark has already talked to a lot of coaches around the league,
ones that are fired, about to be fired, at the college level and have been broadcasting. |

Steve Wyche just said on NFL AM that his source is none other than ALBERT BREER.
Breer is in KC and is continuing to tell everyone that Pioli will be retained. Breer did say that BOTH Crennel AND Pioli will be meeting with Hunt today. |
ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms the Chiefs will fire coach Romeo Crennel on Monday, but GM Scott Pioli's job is safe for now.
It's worth noting that Profootballtalk.com is reporting Pioli has yet to be informed about his 2013 job status. Crennel has been a successful coordinator, but he's now 28-55 as a head coach with just one winning season in five years. To be fair, Pioli saddled him with a roster that contained zero NFL-caliber starters at quarterback. Despite a 23-40 record in four seasons with the Chiefs, Pioli has long been a favorite of owner Clark Hunt, who now appears to be offering a long leash. As was the case when he first landed in Kansas City, Pioli -- if retained -- will be charged with finding a head coach and a franchise QB this offseason. Under Pioli, the Chiefs are still at square one. |
Schefter is enjoying this.

We should fly a banner sometime this week

Danny Parkins @DannyParkins
.@mellinger on Clark Hunt "narrative of him as a miserly owner who doesn’t care about football is wildly out of touch." And if Pioli stays? |
Kent Babb @kentbabb
I totally expect Kyle Shanahan's phone to start blowing up as soon as the Redskins are done. In the past month, Kyle has gone from ... ... a guy who'll get some interviews to a guy who very well could get a head job. Still, if I'm him, I ride this train for another year. Do you take a CLE or KC job now and liberate yourself from Pops? Or do you wait a couple yrs, have Dad move into personnel role and cash in? Kyle REALLY has a problem being lumped in with his dad, so it's not a given he'd even want to succeed Mike, if Mike's still in the org. |
Will someone post the Clark and Soren petro interview when it happens in a new thread?
|
|
Clark looks tired and depressed in this. Pioli is definitely getting shitcanned.

Guys I might be done till pioli is gone I'm so sad what has happened to my team. Now Clark says early February for a decission are you kidding me right now???
|
Holding on to Pioli in any fashion at this point is leading down a path where he is retained. We have already had reports of coaches who wont coach here while he is here and players wont come here if he is the GM.
Regardless of his drastically changed duties its still Pioli, those same coaches and players STILL wont come here just because it is Pioli as GM. If the HC is to help in the decision than it would seem to me that Clark has already made up his mind that he will be staying put with a lesser control level. If what Pioli has turned this franchise into wasnt enough to get rid of him on Black Monday than I fear nothing will. |
Dick kotter coach gm Scott pioli
Draft trade down for multiple second rounders draft Barkley = Chiefscafan now singing to hail to the redskins! I'm so damn disgusted |
I don't care if we lose I care if we don't seem to ever try to change the losing culture if we keep pioli we are doing just that.
The reason we lost is all on cassel and crennel?? Give me a break pioli deflects it on someone again. |

Now that the Reid Heckert duo is off list, what is ur move Clark? Hope he doesn't miss out cause of Milton Pioli still sitting in KC #CHIEFS |
Who is the S.O.C movement backing as HC/GM?

If SOC wants to transition to a commentary blog then that's different. But as a political entity? Continuing to exist as is would only be detrimental to the new front office. |

Officially, SOC trusts that Clark Hunt will do the right thing for the club. We believe he is embarrassed about going 2-14 and being at the head of the worst team ever fielded in Chiefs history. We believe he intends to right the ship and will allow him to do so. It is a shame that Pioli isn't out on his ass at the moment. I would rather he cut ties with him and get it over with but then again it isn't my 7.5 million on the line. If he thinks he can recover that money by forcing Pioli to sit around then so be it. He set a deadline for himself (Feb) and the fans should hold him to that. |
Quote:
I agree that it's a shame that Pioli isn't gone already and the longer that he stays the worse the Chiefs chance is at hiring a quality coach/assistants/GM. That might end up costing the team a lot more than 7.5 million. |
How about flying a banner over Arrowhead - "Finish the Job Clark - Fire Pioli" ?
