Spring Training records are obviously bullcrap, but it would be nice if this forshadowed something a little closer to .450-.500 than anyone expected.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong stats but what I was impressed with was the Royals' run differential during spring training. It ended up being +69 with Detroit having the next highest at plus 30. KC also scored the most runs during spring training and in the Cactus League, only Seatle gave up fewer runs and they played 4 fewer games.

How much of this is a mirage and how much is indicitive that we may be on to something?

I'll be VERY surprised if we win 60 games this year.

I dont know why fans get so excited about Spring Training games? Havent you learned anything by now? Spring Training holds about as much weight as NFL Preseason.

75% mirage, but I would not say it is as useless as the NFL preseason.

Any long time Royals fan should know that he'll continue to suck until we finally cut ties, then he'll turn into the perennial all star he was supposed to be with his next team.

Plus, how many split squad teams did we beat down with our full roster, especially towards the end of ST?

Cactus league champs bitches!

I wont. Our offense alone will carry us to 60 no matter how dreadful our pitching is. I know WE lost 100 games several times so we're biased to think it'll happen every other year, but you still gotta realize that its hard to do.

I'll put "surprised" at 70 wins, "very surprised" at 75 wins, and "shocked" at 81.

Dude, besides Billy's fat ass who will hit? I see another year with our HR leader being in the teens, and seriously doubt anyone will crack 90 R'sBI. I really hope Gordon, Kila, etc prove me wrong but our lineup looks almost as pathetic as our pitching staff. If we played in the NL, then MAYBE 70 W's.

Of course he was good in the spring. He's always good when it doesn't count. Just like when he gets sent down to AAA he'll start being awesome again.

alnorth 03-30-2011 06:47 PM

Kendall was put on the 15-day DL today, retroactive to 3/22, and the Royals have promoted Tim Collins.

Gregor Blanco was outrighted to Omaha. (A player can be outrighted once in his career without clearing waivers, but he's still paid his MLB contract). I assume he'll be exposed to the rule v draft next year if he stays down, and he might even be eligible for minor league free agency for all I know after this season, but I didn't bother to figure it out because I assume we'll release him if he doesn't perform soon.

Lucas May was designated today. He must be traded, waived, or released within 10 days. If we waive him and he's not claimed, I assume we'll send him to Omaha.

Barrera will be eligible to return (if healthy) in the middle of May, and Kendall can come off the 15-day in about a week.

The Royals now have only 39 players on their 40-man roster. Unless they plan on promoting someone soon, they could be trolling the waiver wire.
